Petrobras: new cases of coronavirus on platform P-26, in Macaé, in the Campos Basin. According to the Union of Petroleum Workers in Norte Fluminense, the Sindipetro-NF, compared to other units, the P-26 has the most complicated situation. Last Friday (24) Norwegian Equinor reported that 31 oil tankers providing services on the Peregrino C platform are contaminated by the coronavirus..
Last Thursday afternoon, the agency stated that three new cases of the disease were registered among the P-26 tankers. That week, according to the union, 13 workers disembarked with symptoms of the disease.
According to Sindipetro-NF, the number of workers infected by the coronavirus increases with each passing day in the platforms in the Campos Basin in Macaé and that all are tested.

The highlighted problem is the lack of tests for workers who do not show symptoms of the disease. This is based on reports made by tankers in seven of them: in addition to the P-26, the P-50, P-18, P-35, P-20, P-33 and P-62.
Petrobras stated that it monitors all suspected cases among employees, inside or outside the units, from the first symptoms are reported and that it has taken all preventive measures to avoid contagion, in addition to guiding employees and their families through health.
“Professionals who show any symptoms on board are evaluated by the dedicated medical team and, configured as a suspected case, are disembarked. Collaborators who had very close contact (the so-called contacts) are also disembarked, tested and monitored”, informed Petrobras.
See the excerpt from the note from Petrobras, on the dynamics of preventing the new coronavirus involving the movement of workers on platforms.
“Since the beginning of the pandemic, Petrobras has adopted preventive measures in line with the recommendations of health authorities and regulatory bodies. These measures are proposed by a crisis committee that monitors the evolution of the global health situation caused by the coronavirus on a daily basis, proposing preventive actions in a timely manner. We adopt telecommuting for employees with administrative activities and for professionals in the risk group in any activity. At operational units, we implemented reduced staff to ensure continuity of operations and safety. For the offshore sector, considering the special nature of confinement, the company adopted even stricter measures. We implemented monitored home isolation and pre-boarding medical screening, suspending boarding for anyone with any symptoms. On board, the teams are continuously monitored and disembarkation is arranged whenever respiratory symptoms are reported. When disembarking, the employee wears a mask as recommended by the Ministry of Health and is driven by vehicles waiting close to the aircraft, avoiding traffic in common areas of the airport. When residing in the arrivals area, the employee is sent to his/her home with instructions for home isolation; in cases of non-residents, they are sent to the hotel, in isolation in the rooms, until the appropriate referral to the residences. All employees are monitored by health teams”.
