The company signed an agreement with a consortium formed by the companies Maersk and Alcatel for the construction and operation of a Permanent Seismic Monitoring System (SMSP) in Campo de Mero.

In an area of approximately 200 km² on the ocean floor, the consortium companies will install more than 400 kilometers of optical fiber.
The deadline for the companies to start operations with Petrobras in Campo de Mero is for the beginning of 2024. Thus, the state-owned company will focus its investments on accelerating the project in the Santos Basin.

Currently, Campo de Mero, in the Santos Basin, is operated in a sharing system with Petrobras, which has a 38,6% stake in the asset.
It shares the site with Shell Brasil Petróleo Ltda (19,3%), TotalEnergies EP Brasil Ltda (19,3%), CNODC Brasil Petróleo e Gás Ltda (9,65%), CNOOC Petroleum Brasil Ltda (9,65 %) and Pré-Sal Petróleo SA (PPSA) (3,5%).
Now, with the new contract signed with Alcatel and Maersk, Petrobras plans to further modernize the support services linked to the production of Campo de Mero.
