Petrobras' P-58 Platform, in Espírito Santo, had a maintenance stoppage postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak
Petrobras' P-58 platform at Parque das Baleias, on the coast of the state of Espírito Santo, has postponed its scheduled maintenance stoppage to early April due to the coronavirus outbreak. The complaint came from the Oil Workers Union of Espírito Santo (Sindipetro-ES).

Sindipetro complaint about covid outbreak on platform
“To carry out the platform's scheduled stop, a 'Flotel' ship is anchored beside the P-58 so that a series of services can be carried out, such as painting and changing lines and equipment. In this way, the population aboard the Platform (PAP) rises from 120 to 130 people to up to 500 workers. In the midst of a Covid-19 outbreak, carrying out this stop, with so many workers confined, could lead to a tragedy”, says the Union.
Cases of contamination by the coronavirus are also being investigated on the P-57 platform and on Petrobras' onshore unit in Espírito Santo.

Petrobras responds to cases of Covid in maintenance shutdown
Petrobras reported that it does not provide information about the Covid-19 outbreak on the P-58 platform. The company stated that it decided to postpone maintenance to avoid this situation, with the aim of reducing the workload of the teams at a time when the country is aggravating the Covid-19 pandemic, thus reinforcing the barriers of distance and hygiene in Espírito Santo.
Petrobras reported adopting robust procedures in all its units since the beginning of the pandemic. “For units with confinement, such as platforms, procedures involve health monitoring from 14 days before boarding, when all employees are monitored by health teams and instructed to stay at home and report any symptoms. Before boarding, RT-PCR tests are applied to employees”, he highlighted.
