The Búzios field, discovered in 2010, is the largest oil field in deep waters in the world. The field is expected to operate with 12 platforms in all by the end of the decade.
Good news for the shipbuilding industry, after starting bidding for more than 20 platforms in maintenance contracts that will move the oil and gas market in December, Petrobras informed this morning (17/11), during its 3rd technical forum, its intentions to hire the next four platforms for the Búzios field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt.

“We expect very soon to be able to proceed with the hiring strategy”, said Mário Khan, general manager of the Búzios field.
The Búzios field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt, has four oil platforms in production and awaits the FPSO Almirante Barroso, already contracted. In addition to these, only this year Petrobras began contracting three more units, the FPSO Almirante Tamandaré and the P-78 and P-79 units.

According to the executive, in addition to the oil platforms for the Búzios field, a 4D seismic, “We will use this technology for sure. We see a lot of value in 4D seismic, especially in a reservoir of this magnitude. This will allow you to look at how all the fluids are behaving,” he said.
According to Mariana Paes, executive manager of the Libra reservoir, also in the Santos pre-salt, in order to help reduce asset maintenance time and avoid failures in the field, Petrobras will invest in digital twin technology in the reservoir. “With this, we are able to guarantee greater efficiency and equipment availability”, said Paes.

At the end of the development phase, the area is expected to produce more than 2 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed), making it Petrobras' largest production asset.
