After being chosen to govern alongside President Lula, the new Minister of Ports and Airports, Márcio França, stated that he will discuss with the new president the situation of airports recently returned to the Federal Government. For him, the subject is one of the priorities of the folder in the new federal administration.

In this sense, the Minister of Ports and Airports stated that “The priority is to manage this situation of the airports that are being returned. Because the companies that won the concessions don't want to and then we have a problem because Infraero doesn't know how to manage that either”.

The airports returned by the private initiative are located in strategic cities for Brazilian commercial aviation, such as the airport of Galleon, in Rio de Janeiro, formerly managed by the Changi Airport and Novonorm consortium, and the Natal-São Gonçalo do Amarante (RN) airport and the airport of Viracopos, in Campinas (SP).

Minister of Ports and Airports aims to strengthen Infraero

After taking over the folder in the new Federal government, the Minister of Ports and Airports, Márcio França, pointed out that he wants to strengthen the Infrared, which previously belonged to the defunct Ministry of Infrastructure. With the new management, the state-owned company is now managed by the Ministry of Ports and Airports. On the other hand, the measure aims to adopt the “regional aviation model”, to expand the sector in Brazil.

In notes, the Minister spoke about the model: “This is a format that we are going to encourage so that President Lula agrees with it: that regional airports with fewer passengers, with smaller planes, can be a great solution to facilitate the national integration. Today, we are tied to companies trying to fill the big planes, and naturally that has a limit. That's why there are fewer flights”.
