In addition to the institutional partnership, the mayor of Macaé asks Equinor to install an operational base in the city to expand business with the local market, benefiting the hotel, commerce and services chain

Good news for Macaé! Welberth Rezende just announced on his social network that he received just now, in his office, Equinor's BM-C-33 project director, Thiago Penna, accompanied by institutional relations manager, Tiago Martins, and sustainability leader Ana Cupolo.

Also present at the meeting were the Municipal Secretary for Economic Development, Rodrigo Viana, and the Secretary for the Environment, Juninho Luna.

Company operations in Brazil

The Norwegian multinational, which operates in 30 countries and has more than 20 employees, specializes in energy and is present in the Campos Basin, where it carries out operations in the Peregrino field, in addition to its 25% stake in the Roncador field, being the operator of block BM-C-33.

In the Santos Basin, the company is currently in charge of the Bacalhau field, which is expected to start producing in 2024. Equinor, on Brazilian soil, has several high-impact exploration licenses, as well as many projects aimed at renewable energy generation.

In Macaé, it develops the Gas Route 5B project, which will boost the local productive arrangement, encouraging the installation of new thermoelectric plants and industries in the municipality.

“At the time, in addition to our institutional partnership, I talked to the company's leaders about the possibility of installing an operational base in Macaé and expanding its business with the local market, benefiting the city's hotel, commerce and services chain. I also spoke about the Macaé Industrial Park project, which will facilitate the arrival of more companies to our city”, said Welberth.
