The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) writes a new page in its history with the rise of a woman to the command post of its largest cargo aircraft. Since 2003, when the first women flew a plane at the institution, the evolution has been remarkable.
Today's protagonist, Captain Aviadora Jeciane Ribeiro de Lima Victório, personifies this evolution by becoming the first woman to pilot the KC-390 Millennium, an Embraer jewel, and the FAB's largest cargo plane. “I never imagined, at least in the short term, achieving such a feat”, reveals Captain Jeciane, aged 32, about her historic achievement. The surprise still resonates with Jeciane as she reflects on her unique position: the only woman to pilot the largest military aircraft manufactured in Brazil. “I’m still processing this reality,” she admits. Her comprehensive training, including simulators in São José dos Campos, Belgium, Indonesia, Manaus, and Curitiba, not only improved her technical skills but also prepared her to face emergencies with dexterity.

She sees this achievement not just as a personal project, but as a beacon of possibilities for other women. “I hope to inspire other women to pursue their dreams by demonstrating that achieving such a position is, in fact, possible,” she says.

Jeciane faces everyday challenges that shape her experience at FAB. The unpredictability of her schedule, requiring availability for missions from one day to the next, is one of these challenges. “I learned to embrace this uncertainty lightly,” she shares. This dynamic offers, however, the opportunity to explore new places and meet friends, an aspect she values in her military career.
Looking to the future, Jeciane feels immensely grateful for the position she holds and dreams of new horizons, including the possibility of flying to Antarctica. “I continue to dedicate myself daily to being a better person and professional,” she says. His journey into military aviation began influenced by his father's passion for military topics and his grandfather's family legacy in the Army.

Born in Campo Grande (MS), Captain Jeciane has charted a distinct path in the FAB since joining the AFA in 2012. Specializing in transport aviation after graduating, she explored several squadrons and aircraft, from the C-95 Bandeirante up to the C-130 Hercules.
In 2024, she achieved the distinction of being the first woman to pilot the advanced KC-390, marking her name in the history of Brazilian military aviation. In addition to her career, Jeciane also dedicates herself to studying psychology, balancing her passion for flying with her interest in human development.
