With the capacity to store up to 220 thousand m³ of fuel and an investment financed in R$ 343 million by Banco do Nordeste, the new terminal at the Port of Pecém promises logistical efficiency, cost reduction and may finally lower the price of fuel in Ceará!
Fuel prices in Ceará have been a headache for drivers and companies. But that could be about to change! A new tanking project at the Port of Pecém promises to revolutionize the sector's logistics and bring more competitiveness to the market, which could have a direct positive impact on consumers' pockets.
New tank terminal at the Port of Pecém promises greater competitiveness
With an investment of R$ 430 million, the Dislub Ecuador Group is betting big in the construction of a tank farm in the Pecém Industrial and Port Complex. The works are expected to be completed by August 2027, and the project has already begun to take shape with the first earthmoving work.
The terminal will have an initial storage capacity of 130 m³, with the possibility of expansion to 220 m³. This means that gasoline, diesel, ethanol, biofuels, jet fuel and even crude oil can be moved more efficiently.

How could the new structure impact fuel prices in Ceará?
Ceará is often listed among the states with the most expensive fuel in Brazil, and one of the main culprits is distribution logistics. Today, most fuel arrives in the state via highways, which increases transportation costs and, consequently, the final price to the consumer.
With the new terminal, this reality could change. The Port of Pecém will be able to receive large-scale vessels, reducing dependence on road transport and making distribution more efficient and cheaper. The result? Greater competitiveness and, in the long term, more affordable prices for the end consumer.
Logistics as a key factor in reducing prices
Currently, around 40% of the fuel consumed in Ceará arrives by other means of transport, mainly by road. This method increases costs, as it involves expenses with tolls, fuel and maintenance of transport vehicles. This logistical bottleneck contributes directly for the high price of fuel in the state.
The new tank terminal promises to change this scenario, bringing more efficiency to supply. The structure will be able to serve neighboring states, using rail transport, which could further reduce transportation costs. In the medium and long term, this change could make fuel more affordable for the people of Ceará and the entire Northeast region.
Job creation and local economic impact
A project of this magnitude not only has an impact on logistics and fuel economy, but also on job creation. The construction phase of the terminal is expected to create 500 direct jobs, in addition to hundreds of indirect opportunities. Once operational, the terminal will also create around 100 permanent jobs.
In addition to creating jobs, the tank terminal reinforces Ceará's role as a strategic hub for fuel distribution. Financing from Banco do Nordeste (BNB), which guaranteed R$343 million of the investment, demonstrates the importance of the initiative for the region's economy.
