Mercedes-Benz announced the sale of its car factory in Iracemápolis-SP, to Great Wall Motors. The sale includes the factory where the Class C and GLA models were produced, which stopped being manufactured in December last year. In addition, the sale includes the land of 1,2 million m², together with the production equipment and buildings. It is worth noting that the Mercedes-Benz Test Center and Proving Ground, which are being built alongside Bosch, in Iracemápolis-SP, are not included in the negotiation.

The Mercedes-Benz factory in Iracemápolis-SP, was announced in 2013 and began operations in 2016. Before, its production capacity was 20 cars per year when it closed, in 2020. Now, Great Wall Motors claims which will expand the plant's annual capacity to a much larger and optimistic figure of 100 cars.

With the sale of the plant in SP, which was paralyzed for a year, Mercedes-Benz in Brazil will continue its operations at the units in São Bernardo do Campo, responsible for the production of trucks, bus chassis and aggregates, in Campinas, in the production of Parts and Customer Services, Global Training and Reman and also at the plant in Minas Gerais that produces truck cabins.
Regarding cars, the automaker reinforced that it will also maintain its 50 dealerships spread throughout Brazil. As in other countries, the estimate is that Great Wall Motors will arrive as an importer and soon after that local production will start.
The company has good cars, such as the Great Wall P Series medium pickup, which is highly praised in the Asian and Oceanian markets. Its size is greater than the Toyota Hilux and its engine is a 2.0 horsepower 200 turbo.
