Petrobras announced, last Monday, 24th, the identification of Hydrocarbons in the pre-salt layer of the Campos Basin, reinforcing the region's exploratory potential. The discovery was made in the North Brava block, through exploratory well 1-BRSA-1394-RJS, located 105 km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, at a water depth of 575 meters. This discovery reinforces Petrobras' commitment to expanding reserves in the Brazilian pre-salt layer.
Drilling details and discovery evaluation
The drilling of the well has been completed and currently the Petrobras is carrying out the final profiling for a detailed evaluation of the hydrocarbons found.
The presence of hydrocarbons in the North Brava block was confirmed through electrical profiles, gas traces and fluid sampling.

These samples will undergo laboratory analysis for more precise characterization, allowing a better understanding of the reservoir conditions and the well's productive potential.
The consortium led by Petrobras will continue operations to complete the well project and define the next exploratory stages.
The Brava North block represents a strategic asset for the expansion of hydrocarbon exploration in the Campos Basin, one of the main offshore production hubs in Brazil.
Importance of the Brava North Block for Petrobras
The acquisition of the Brava North block by Petrobras took place in December 2022, in the 1st Cycle of the Permanent Production Sharing Offer, a bidding process carried out by ANP (National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels).
The contract management is under the responsibility of PPSA (Pré-Sal Petróleo SA), and Petrobras is the exclusive operator of the block, holding a 100% stake.
With this new discovery of hydrocarbons in the North Brava block, Petrobras reinforces its strategic positioning in pre-salt exploration.
The company continues to invest in expansion of its reserves, with a focus on safe and efficient exploration.
Detailed analysis of the data collected will allow directing future exploratory activities in the area, contributing to the development of the oil sector in Brazil.
The discovery of hydrocarbons in the North Brava block highlights the potential of the Campos Basin in producing energy for Brazil.
Petrobras remains committed to research and development to ensure greater efficiency in its exploratory and productive activities.
