For the executive secretary of Abespetro, Gilson Coelho “After the auctions phase and the signature of contracts, we are now entering the stage of development of production projects. The pandemic caused the retraction of activities in Brazil, but did not suspend the development of these strategies. With the gradual recovery of the global economy, the oil industry in Brazil will also continue to invest to increase oil and gas production”.
According to information from the Brazilian Association of Petroleum Services Companies (Abespetro), more than 200 offshore jobs will be created with the resumption of the oil and gas sector in Brazil, and the biggest beneficiary will be the city of Macaé.
“Local companies were the ones that felt the effects of the pandemic the most. And, for this reason, business institutions strive to build an agenda with large companies that guarantee the practice of stimulating local content. In simple math, if every screw, oil and service in the offshore industry is bought and contracted here, our stores and companies will hire more, take a lot of people out of informality and ensure that the daily bread is not missing from the tables of the Macanese” , says the member of the Firjan Municipal Commission, Marcelo Reid (Merrel).
