The amount of jobs that will be generated by the railway works in Ceará will increase by 200% this year, benefiting the residents of the region
Construction of the Transnordestina railroad in Ceará is underway, boosting employability in the region. With two phases already in progress, the work is currently employing nearly 2 thousand people on their construction sites. However, that number is expected to increase considerably this year, reaching around 6 thousand jobs. That means there's a increase of 200% foreseen for the workstations, as the interventions are started in other four stretches.
Work on the Acopiara-Itapiúna section is expected to start later this year
According to the project schedule, it is foreseen that the works of the section that connects Acopiara to Itapiúna will be started later this year. This additional step can significantly boost the number of jobs generated by Transnordestina in the state of Ceará. Despite the challenges faced, the construction of the railroad will strengthen the transport infrastructure and increase the competitiveness of the Brazilian Northeast, promoting socioeconomic integration with other regions of the country.
Transnordestina's employment potential
Tufi Daher Filho, CEO of Transnordestina Logística S/A, the company responsible for the project, points out that each batch of works generates between 900 and 1.000 direct jobs. Considering that there are forecasts for six stretches with works throughout the year, the railroad will be able to use up to 6 thousand people from Ceará, which represents a significant boost to the local economy.

However, it is important to note that hiring does not all occur immediately. They are carried out gradually, as the works progress in each section. This approach ensures that the recruitment of people from Ceará to work on the works is carried out according to the needs and progress of the railroad construction, allowing efficient management of the human resources involved in the project.
Cearense railroad project is 1.753 km long and covers 3 different states
Transnordestina is an important railway infrastructure project that aims to connect the interior of the states in the Northeast of Brazil to the coast, covering the states of Piauí, Ceará and Pernambuco. Its construction began in 1997, but it has suffered several setbacks and delays over the years, facing financial, bureaucratic and environmental challenges. The work is carried out by Transnordestina Logística S/A, a private company created to implement and operate the railroad.
The railroad will have a total length of 1.753 kilometers, connecting the cities of Eliseu Martins (PI) to Salgueiro (PE), passing through important cities in the northeastern interior, such as Crateús (CE), Missão Velha (CE) and Arcoverde (PE). Transnordestina will have two branches, one of which will be directed to the Port of Pecém, in Ceará, and the other to the Port of Suape, in Pernambuco. This will enable a more efficient transport of goods for national and international trade.

In addition to facilitating cargo transport, Transnordestina will also bring socioeconomic benefits to the regions it crosses. The construction of the railroad generates direct and indirect jobs, boosts local commerce and contributes to the growth of the areas served. Furthermore, the railroad will reduce reliance on road transport, reducing logistical costs and environmental impacts related to cargo transportation.
