City Hall and Si&Mex Solutions GmbH formalize partnership for the arrival of the new semiconductor factory

Last Friday, June 28, the City of Campina Grande, together with the German company Si&Mex Solutions GmbH, formalized the installation of an innovative semiconductor factory in the city. The signing ceremony was attended by Mayor Bruno Cunha Lima, secretaries Gustavo Braga (Finance) and Tâmela Fama (Economic Development), as well as the municipality's attorney general, Aécio Melo, and representatives of the German company.

O Venetian senator Vital do Rêgo played a crucial role in articulating this project, which promises the transfer of technology from Germany to Brazil and the specialized training of the local workforce.

Why Campina Grande?

According to Valdiney Domingos de Oliveira, founder and CEO of Si&Mex Solutions GmbH, several factors influenced the choice of Campina Grande among 46 candidate cities. “The political will of Mayor Bruno Cunha Lima and Senator Veneziano Vital was decisive. The training of qualified labor and the technical feasibility and operational costs of the city were essential to our decision”, highlighted Valdiney.

The new semiconductor factory is expected to be completed and begin operations in mid-2026. Mayor Bruno Cunha Lima celebrated the potential for job creation that this facility will bring to the city. “We are very happy to sign this protocol of intent. The new semiconductor factory should generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs, taking advantage of the qualified workforce that we train at our universities”, commented the mayor.

Billionaire investment

The Secretary of Economic Development of Campina Grande, Tâmela Fama, highlighted the considerable investment that will be made by Si&Mex Solutions GmbH. “Around R$6 billion will be invested, strengthening the economic development of our city. It is a historic day, with a clean energy company expanding its operations here in Campina Grande, which once again demonstrates its potential as a technological and industrial hub”, said Tâmela.

Ana Cláudia Vital do Rêgo, wife of Venetian senator Vital do Rêgo, also celebrated the importance of this investment for the city. “It is a significant moment, reinforcing Campina Grande as a technological hub. The attraction of this investment was due to our potential to export Information Technology, in addition to the agility of the City Hall and the articulation of Senator Veneziano”, highlighted Ana Cláudia.
