About the contract with Statkraft
At the end of 2020, Statkraft Energias Renováveis, the Brazilian subsidiary of the largest renewable energy producer in Europe, the Norwegian Statkraft, placed an order with the Nordex Group, on a large scale, involving 91 N163/5.X model wind turbines, each with a capacity of 5,7 MW, for a wind energy project of 518,7 MW in Brazil
The execution of the “Ventos de Santa Eugenia” wind farm project that will be built near Uibaí, in the state of Bahia, with Statkraft starts in the second half of 2021, also contemplating the production of wind turbines at the Nordex factory in Simons Son.
Commissioning is scheduled for early 2023. The turbines will be supplied in an optimized operating mode of 5,7 MW and will be installed in 120-meter concrete towers.
20 year contract
Statkraft's wind energy order also includes a premium service contract covering three years, as well as a technical support contract for the customer and turbines for a period of 20 years.
“We are delighted that Statkraft has chosen our turbine technology and appreciate the trust they have placed in us to equip their largest wind farm in South America. With this turbine of the Delta4000 series, specially designed for places with moderate and medium winds, Statkraft will be able to produce clean wind energy with low energy cost and supply the necessary electricity to the Brazilian market”, says Patxi Landa. Nordex Group CSO.
Nordex investments in Brazil
The focus of the German company in Brazil is total. Its business plan for the coming years, since Brazil alone accounts for 13% of the company's sales, is a relevant highlight.
“The market has changed a lot in recent years due to the Free Market. In the past, we were very tied to auctions. The Free Market came and is growing more and more. I see a big demand for new machines in the next three or four years. The wind source is already in our DNA, with some challenges with solar and natural gas. But wind has performed well. So, I think it will be a long-lasting business over the coming years. There will be a lot of demand”, concludes the sales director of the Nordex Group in Brazil.
