Volkswagen's new Kombi, the T7, the fourth generation of the multivan, is a little closer today. The new Bulli will be introduced in the middle of next month, and will be completely revamped inside and out, adopting the modular MQB platform from the Golf eHybrid/GTE, the Skoda Octavia iV or the Audi A3 E-Tron.
Volkswagen's darling Kombi will gain a longer wheelbase compared to the T6.1 model. The new sketches also show that it will have very wide windows, including in the A-pillar area, both to improve visibility and to remember the classic Kombi T1 from 1950, which remained in production until 1975 here in Brazil.

The new Kombi T7 will lose the manual version and the traditional parking brake lever, thus creating extra space between the two front seats and will be offered along with the T6.1-based Transporter, as the minivan will not change to new bases in the near future. Unfortunately, the multinational Volkswagen does not show any sign that it would have a product of this type in Brazil again.
The range of engines will consist of gasoline and diesel mechanics, which will give life to the different bodies, whether with front or all-wheel drive. Furthermore, Volkswagen will introduce electrified versions, both in the form of plug-in hybrid trains and up to 100% electric. The power range will range from 140 to 225 horsepower, with six- and seven-speed manual and automatic transmissions, respectively.
Volkswagen, the world's largest vehicle producer, stops developing and manufacturing gasoline and diesel combustion engines to focus on electric cars
The multinational Audi, belonging to the Volkswagen Group, had already announced recently that it would not develop any more combustion engines and that the automaker's focus will be on the manufacture of electric cars. Now, the boss of the German brand has confirmed the end of the development and manufacture of this type of propellant, whether gasoline or diesel.
According to information from Ralf Brandstätter, CEO of Volkswagen, in an interview with Automobilwoche, the German automaker will only continue to update and revise the current gasoline and diesel combustion engines in order to make them more efficient. The reason for this measure is that the multinational will invest heavily in the manufacture and production of electric cars.
The executive did not say how long we will consider gasoline and diesel engines in Volkswagen cars, but what everything indicates is that they should remain for the next 10 years.
