Despite Petrobras' fuel price policy being an unknown quantity, gasoline prices remain 7% below the import parity (PPI)
The Brazilian Association of Fuel Importers (Abicom) warns of the gasoline price lag in the Brazilian market, which threatens ethane consumptionl. According to the president of Abicom, Sérgio Araújo, there is no expectation of readjustment by Petrobras before the Ordinary General Meeting (AGO), scheduled for April 27.
Diesel is in line with import value and Petrobras may increase gasoline by R$ 0,25 per liter in Brazil
The average price of gasoline in Brazil is 7% below the import parity (PPI), reaching 9% in the hub of Araucária (PR) and 6% in Aratu (BA). To reach parity, the Petrobras could increase gasoline by R$ 0,25 per liter in the domestic market. However, Araújo assesses that Petrobras should not increase the price of gasoline now with all the pressure on the state-owned company's prices.
Diesel, on the other hand, is in line with the import price and has guaranteed business, mainly with Russian diesel. To keep the relief in the consumer's pocket, the Brazilian oil giant Petrobras readjusted the diesel 19 days ago and has kept the price of gasoline frozen for 41 days!

Petrobras' pricing policy is an open question, but it defends competitive values
What will happen to Petrobras' pricing policy after the AGO it is still a mystery, and the interference of the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, last week, did not help in the debate on the subject. Silveira stated that the state-owned company's prices would no longer be linked to the international market, but to an "internal" fuel price. The theory follows the determination of the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, to “Brazilize” the prices of the state-owned company.
The president of Petrobras, Jean Paul Prates, has confirmed its intention to end the PPI and to defend prices that guarantee the competitiveness of the state-owned company in the market, taking into account regional differences.
