The National Petroleum Agency was part of a task force this week to investigate complaints at gas stations in Rio de Janeiro

The National Petroleum Agency (ANP), with the help of Inmetro, Ipem-RJ and the civil police, carried out a task force this week to supervise the giant fuel market in the state of Rio de Janeiro. In all, six gas stations were inspected in Rio de Janeiro. Stations in the neighborhoods of Andaraí, Bonsucesso, Botafogo, Rio Comprido, Vista Alegre and Pilares were inspected. The operation started last Monday, ending today, Friday.

The operation served to investigate complaints made by consumers in establishments. In addition, the professionals checked the quality of the fuel sold at these stations. The task force had the presence of several bodies for each of them to investigate a certain point of the gas stations.

National Petroleum Agency (ANP) found several problems

The ANP was responsible for verifying the documentation of the gas stations, in addition to the resolutions and the quality of the fuel sold at the establishment. However, for the happiness of consumers in the region, the ANP did not find any infraction related to the quality of fuel sold in the localities. However, six notices were presented for non-presentation of invoices, in addition to 14 collections of fuel for analysis in a laboratory.

17 nozzles at gas stations were sealed

Inmetro, on the other hand, was responsible for analyzing the amount of fuel supplied by each pump. In addition, the correct functioning of the pumps was analyzed by the agency. Here 17 nozzles were banned due to incorrect delivery compared to what is shown on the pump. These 17 nozzles were at 4 different fuel stations. Procon analyzed consumer rights and compliance with the Transparency Decree (Decree No. 10.634/2021).

In total, many problems were found at these gas stations. Tampered bombs, broken seal, but appearing to be intact and seals that allow manual adjustments in the amount of fuel. In addition, one of the stations was prevented from selling drinks due to inadequate conditions.

Complaints about irregularities in the fuel market can be forwarded to the ANP by Contact Us or by calling toll free on 0800 970 0267. Reporting is essential for agencies to keep customers safe. In addition to the risk to people, adulterated fuel can cause major problems for vehicles that are fueled with it.
