Inauguration event was attended by authorities from the Brazilian Navy and other companies involved in the shipbuilding project for the Tamandaré Class frigates at the Oceana shipyard, in Itajaí – SC

The Brazilian Navy's Naval Project Management Company (Emgepron) held the inauguration of its base allocated in Itajaí - SC, to monitor the preparation and execution of the construction project of ships (frigates) Class Tamandaré at the Oceana shipyard. Itajaí is already nationally recognized as the capital of shipbuilding and should soon become a reference in Latin America.

The inauguration ceremony took place last Friday (14th) and was attended by executives from the Brazilian Navy, EMGEPRON and the Águas Azuis Consortium, which includes Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems, Embraer and Atech, among other representatives.

The contract for shipbuilding of four vessels at the Oceana shipyard was signed by the Brazilian Navy and the Águas Azuis consortium. The project is valued at more than 6 billion reais, with expectations of generating 2 thousand direct jobs and around 6 indirect ones at the peak of production.

A EMGEPRON is a public company created in 1982, linked to the Ministry of Defense through the Command of the Brazilian Navy, whose main purposes are: To promote the Brazilian Naval Industry; Manage projects that are part of programs approved by the Brazilian Navy Command.

German multinational Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems signed an agreement to control the Oceana shipyard and will undertake shipbuilding for the Brazilian Navy's frigates

In May of this year, a contract was signed between Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems and the company Aliança SA., which belongs to the CBO Group, for the acquisition of the Oceana shipyard, in Itajaí. The agreement involves the beginning of the construction project for the Tamandaré Class frigates for the Brazilian Navy, as well as consolidating the presence of the multinational in the industry of shipbuilding the country.

Thyssenkrupp already has an office in the city and is already putting together its team of leaders, hiring professionals from different areas, including some already working in the development of the shipbuilding of the frigates.
