The Italian ship “Grande Abidjan” belongs to the Grimaldi Group, a giant in the naval industry
Naval industry: Italian ship “Grande Abidjan”, belonging to the Grimaldi Group, docked at the Container Terminal of Paranaguá (TCP) this Thursday (23). Capable of transporting 71 thousand tons of cargo, it is the largest in capacity of the ro-ro type (roll-on/roll-off) that has ever been berthed in the history of the Port of Paranaguá. The previous one, “Grande Buenos Aires”, also by Grimaldi, has a capacity for 56 thousand tons.
The Grimaldi Group is an Italian private shipping company operating a large fleet of ro-ro, ro-ro/multipurpose, con-ro multipurpose, PCTC, ro-pax and cruise ferries. The naval industry multinational provides integrated maritime logistics services for the main vehicle manufacturers, transporting cars, different types of rolling stock, containers, unitized goods and passengers by sea routes.
Security and expertise of the Port of Paranaguá for cargo transport
According to shipowners manager, Carolina Brown, “one of the great challenges of logistics today is the transport of project cargo, as these are complex operations that require safe movement and great expertise. The Container Terminal of Paranaguá (TCP) has a diversified portfolio of services, specialized teams, operational resources and equipment that allow us to move this type of cargo”.

The Port of Paranaguá is essential for the country's shipbuilding industry, as it offers the largest number of maritime lines in Brazil, regularly operating all shipowners present on the Brazilian coast. With an operational team with more than 20 years of experience, TCP has already participated in expansion projects for large companies such as Klabin, Fibria, Ambev, Heineken and others.
Investments in staff, structure and technology allowed Porto Paranaguá to break records
Still according to Carolina Brown, investments in staff, structure and technology allowed for great advances in ship cargo transport. “We expanded the teams, which already 2022 allowed us to break several records”, affirm. One of these records was in the productivity sector: in October last year, TCP carried out 202 movements per hour on the same vessel.
The Paranaguá Container Terminal has the largest number of regular services in the region with global coverage (Asia, Europe, Americas and Africa). In addition, it has a privileged location in a protected bay, allowing excellent conditions for navigation and permanence.
