Exhibited at the NeoSolar stand at Intersolar 2022, SIGFI was developed to integrate government social projects such as the More Light for the Amazon Program. Among several advantages, the system reduces installation costs

NeoSolar, leader in the Off Grid solar energy market, and HOPPECKE, a German multinational specializing in energy storage, jointly developed a SIGFI (Isolated and Intermittent Source System) fully optimized to serve locations without access to conventional electricity.

More economical, easier to transport and install and with low maintenance costs, the system is the best solution to meet the needs and requirements of government energy access projects, such as the Light for All Program and the More Light for the Amazon Program (MLA).

Technological development is signed by NeoSolar and HOPPECKE, which is also the integrator responsible for distributing it and carrying out installations in the benefited locations. With long experience in bringing energy to places without access to the electrical grid, HOPPECKE has recently participated in projects that benefited thousands of families in Ilha de Marajó and in the surroundings of Belo Monte — both in Pará.

Among several advantages, the SIGFI differs from a conventional Off Grid system by incorporating solutions that maximize the useful life of the equipment and reduce costs at all stages, whether in the installation or in the operation and maintenance phase of the system.

The solution will be presented at the NeoSolar stand during Intersolar South America, the main fair in South America for the photovoltaic and thermosolar sectors. The event is held between the 23rd and 25th of August, at Expo Center Norte, in São Paulo (SP).

Advantages for installation in isolated regions

Following ANEEL's guidelines, the SIGFI was designed to serve government energy access projects, such as the Light for All Program and the More Light for the Amazon Program. Developed by NeoSolar and HOPPECKE, all the technical engineering of the solution was aimed at ensuring an extended useful life for the system — in addition to making installation, operation and maintenance much easier, cheaper and more efficient in remote regions of the country.

Dimensioned for consumption of up to 60 kwH/month, the SIGFI has autonomy to operate for up to 2,5 days without sun and was designed in a compact format so that its transport and installations are simpler, in addition to reducing the need for maintenance and having a dataloger for recording generation and consumption data.

Another difference is the Lithium battery sun I power LFP 48-105 by HOPPECKE which stores energy and guarantees the system's long autonomy. With a useful life of 6000 cycles (considering 80% DoD and 25°C), the device offers a shorter recharge time and greater safety, guaranteed by an internal BMS with active balance.

Thousands of beneficiaries in government programs

In Brazil, there are still more than 500 people without access to energy living in remote locations or communities isolated from the electricity grid, which should be served by these government programs in the coming years. NeoSolar/HOPPECKE's SIGFI represents a major step forward in bringing electricity to these populations more efficiently and cheaply.

"Every little detail of the project has been thoroughly studied and tested. Therefore, it is the ideal solution to bring solar energy to remote locations not connected to the electrical grid, fully optimized to maximize its useful life and minimize all costs.”, emphasizes Pedro Pintão, founding partner of NeoSolar.

“In addition to being a solution that facilitates all logistics, one of our main concerns was to bring extreme reliability to SIGFI. Thus, we incorporated equipment from solid and renowned manufacturers in this market, such as Epever and HOPPECKE, into the project, guaranteeing a long useful life for the system”, complements.

“Today, with our partners, we are able to carry out any SIGFI/MIGDI project on a turn-key basis”, comments Antonio No, general director of HOPPECKE in Brazil. “Projects like the one we carry out on Ilha de Marajó are fully aligned with HOPPECKE's mission and values, which are to provide energy to people and improve their lives with it”.

Composition Neosolar's Off Grid system

NeoSolar/ HOPPECKE's SIGFI is a complete set, with a structure in high resistance aluminum truss and cabinets in insulating plastic polymer reinforced with fiberglass, containing an inverter-controller set calculated and defined by NeoSolar which, in partnership with HOPPECKE, it also carried out the detailed engineering of the product and specified photovoltaic modules with monocrystalline half-cell technology.

The system uses HOPPECKE lithium batteries that perform much better than conventional batteries, with a capacity of 5,04kWh, enough for up to 2,5 days of autonomy without sun and a useful life of more than 6000 cycles, in addition to not requiring maintenance.

The inverter and charge controller are from Epever, the world's largest manufacturer of Off Grid solar energy solutions, with high reliability. The system and components also underwent a tropicalization process to meet the most demanding field conditions such as high temperatures, humidity, salinity and overloads.

All major components of the system have been thoroughly tested and the electronics harmonized with each other through tests and analyses. Tropicalized to adapt to the conditions of the installation sites, the SIGFI is a complete product, ready to meet the needs of the Brazilian market, within the requirements of the Amazonian soil.
