The new BYD Song PRO has arrived, a plug-in hybrid SUV that promises to outshine the Corolla Cross! With a lower price, impressive autonomy and production that will soon be nationalized, this launch is already creating something to talk about in São Paulo.

BYD Song PRO is equipped with a 1.5 Atkinson cycle engine, which prioritizes battery charging and ensures efficient driving in electric mode. The GL version has a 12,9 kWh battery, providing around 70 km of electric range. The GS version has a larger 18,3 kWh battery, offering up to 110 km of electric range and an impressive 1.100 km of total range with one tank.

BYD Song PRO details and differences

BYD Song PRO was initially launched in 2019 in China and arrives in Brazil with some important updates. Although it does not have a sunroof in any of the versions, the SUV offers two models: GL and GS, both with an engine and mechanics similar to the BYD King. BYD Song PRO production will be nationalized by the end of 2024, with CKD assembly initially.

The 18-inch wheels, modern design and rear LED strip are some of the visual highlights. Internally, the GS version differentiates itself by including induction cell phone charging and rear charging outlets, items that are not available in the GL version. The 12-inch screen on the dashboard, which can be adjusted according to the driver's needs, is another highlight of the interior, which exudes quality with leather finishes and orange stitching.

Comparison with the Corolla Cross

The BYD Song PRO not only competes on price, but also on size and features with the Corolla Cross. With a length of 4,73 meters, it is longer than the Toyota competitor, which is 4,46 meters. Furthermore, the width of 1,86 meters and the wheelbase of 2,77 meters guarantee generous internal space. While the Corolla Cross starts at around R$200.000, the Song PRO stands out as a more affordable and equally robust option.
