New bridge will connect two states, facilitating ecotourism and conservation in the Pantanal. With an estimated value of R$60 million, the project will create an ecological and economic corridor that will attract tourists and strengthen biodiversity.
Between wild landscapes and natural riches, a new and impressive bridge is about to redefine ecotourism between the states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul.
The strategic project, estimated to cost between R$50 and R$60 million, is a long-awaited milestone that will finally connect the two Brazilian Pantanals, facilitating access and providing an ecological corridor that will benefit local economies and sustainable tourism.
The Wetlands Connection: The Beginning of a Milestone for Ecotourism
According to the Director of Projects and Budgets at Agesul, Magno Mendes, the new bridge will be the first physical connection between the Pantanaises of Mato Grosso do Sul and Mato Grosso do Sul.

The construction should integrate the famous Transpantaneira Road (MT) with the MS-214 (MS), generating unprecedented access between the municipalities of Corumbá, in Mato Grosso do Sul, and Porto Jofre, in Mato Grosso.
In addition to facilitating tourism, the project creates a crucial ecological route, which promises to encourage environmental preservation and expand sustainable tourism activities, benefiting local fauna and flora.
According to Mendes, after analyzing three possible routes, the most viable route connects the end of Transpantaneira to MS-214.
The project, which is approximately 300 meters long, will provide easier access for visitors, expanding the reach of ecotourism in the region.
This work represents a unique opportunity to promote sustainable development and guarantee the future of the Pantanal, preserving its biodiversity and boosting the local economy..
Project costs and execution
The budget and costs of the work will be divided equally between Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul, according to the cooperation agreement already signed.
The bridge project will be drawn up by the government of Mato Grosso, while the execution will involve the cooperation of both states..
The Deputy Secretary of road works from Mato Grosso, Nivia Calzolari, states that after the technical visit to choose the route, the Sinfra team must prepare the project for the bidding.
“The bridge will be a milestone in the connectivity of the two states and will significantly boost ecological tourism in the region”, highlights Seilog’s Road Infrastructure Director, Rudi Fiorese.
Ecotourism in the Pantanal: potential and expansion
The place where the bridge will be installed is surrounded by properties and eco-tourism areas.
On the Mato Grosso side, the region known as Porto Jofre, on the banks of the São Lourenço River, already offers activities such as jaguar spotting, attracting visitors from Brazil and abroad during the high season, which runs from May to November.
Eduardo Blanco, manager of Pousada Porto Jofre Pantanal, explains that the local tourist infrastructure has approximately 10 large boats and 60 speedboats, in addition to 200 pilots who operate in around 30 properties.
“Most tourists arrive by car via the Transpantaneira, a dirt road that stretches 150 km from Cuiabá to Porto Jofre,” says Blanco.
The new bridge will facilitate access and could attract an even larger public, promoting more inclusive and sustainable development in the region..
Ecology and preservation: a sustainable corridor
In addition to tourism, the construction of the bridge promises to strengthen the role of the wetlands in environmental preservation, establishing an ecological corridor that will benefit local biodiversity.
Visitors can explore trails and observe species such as jaguars, capybaras and rare birds, as well as enjoy the unique natural landscapes of the Pantanal.
For state governments, the project represents more than a simple connection between two points: it is an opportunity to promote sustainable development and preserve one of the richest and most diverse biomes in Brazil.
Vision of the future for the Pantanal
This innovative project symbolizes the future vision of the governments of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul, by joining efforts to boost ecotourism and ensure the sustainable development of the region.
According to secretary Nivia Calzolari, The Pantanal region is one of the richest in ecology and tourism, with the potential to be one of the most attractive destinations for national and international ecotourism.
Cooperation between the two states is an example of how joint initiatives can drive sustainable development, benefiting local populations and protecting the environment.
This infrastructure milestone represents a promising future for the Pantanal, ensuring accessibility and economic growth without compromising the ecosystem..
