Get ready for the launch of Toyota's new compact SUV, the C-HR, which promises to displace VW. With a renewed design and hybrid engine, the new Toyota C-HR should cost around R$159.

Toyota is launching a new compact SUV in an offensive against models from BYD and VW, which have dominated the market. The new Toyota C-HR combines innovative design and hybrid powertrain, promising to be a great success. With an increasing focus on SUVs, Toyota hopes the C-HR will help further popularize the brand. This model is designed to meet the demands of modern consumers, offering a perfect combination of style, efficiency and technology.

Toyota's compact SUV gains unique design and falls in consumer taste

First launched in 2015, the first generation Toyota C-HR has always been a car ahead of its time with a very modern and current look and the new second generation arrives to successfully replace it.

In terms of dimensions, the second generation of Toyota's new SUV has grown and now measures 4,36 m long, has a wheelbase of 2,64 m, is 1,83 m wide, 1,57 m high, and weighs a light 1278 kg. and accommodating an excellent 450 l of luggage in the trunk, which is very generous.

The look is one of the biggest highlights of the new Toyota C-HR. At the front, we have C-shaped full LED headlights, details in Piano Black and gray on the grille frame and the creases on the hood draw attention. On the sides, Toyota's new compact SUV has a different two-tone paintwork that starts at the C column and dominates the entire rear.

Another cool thing is the active door handles and beautiful 18-inch diamond-cut wheels. At the rear, Toyota's new SUV features an integrated spoiler, a sporty bumper and beautiful full LED taillights interconnected by the Toyota logo, which is also illuminated.

New Toyota C-HR can deliver up to 220 combined horsepower

Mechanically, the new Toyota C-HR proves to be a great option to take on the BYD. Always a hybrid, Toyota's new SUV in entry-level versions may come with the same 1.8 engine as ours Corolla. However, the coolest package it has is the 2.0 naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine that comes coupled to two more rear electric motors. Adding it all up, it's a strong 195 combined horses and the torque has not been revealed.

The transmission is automatic CVT type and the drive can be either front or all-wheel drive. The performance is excellent, it even runs longer than the new previous generation Toyota C-HR and the consumption averages are impressive, recording 21,7 km per liter in the city and 20 km/l on the highway with gasoline.

Another very interesting option is the plug-in hybrid, which was launched with this second generation. As a base we have the same 2.0 4-cylinder as the conventional hybrid plus an electric motor with 133,8 kWh batteries, totaling 220 horses combined and the torque is unknown. The performance is impressive and it goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 6,9 seconds in fuel consumption. The model manages to surpass some rivals, recording 27 km per liter in the city and 25 km/l on the highway with gasoline.

Another strong point in Toyota's new SUV is safety, as it has ACC, which is the adaptive automatic with the stop and go function, not to mention the correction and lane keeping assistants.
