Charter contract between Petrobras and NFE shows both companies' commitment to providing efficient energy solutions in the Brazilian market

New Fortress Energy (NFE), a North American energy company, has taken a significant step forward by signing a charter agreement with Brazilian state-owned oil and gas giant, Petrobras. The contract is for the use of the Energos Winter floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), marking a strategic partnership between the two companies, according to the offshore energy website.

The FSRU Energos Winter charter agreement with Petrobras is an important milestone in the oil and gas industry. Petrobras is one of the main companies in the oil and gas sector and its partnership with NFE demonstrates confidence in the North American company's growth potential and expertise. NFE is known for its innovation and commitment to sustainable energy, which makes this collaboration even more meaningful.

Energy Expansion in Brazil: Gás Sul Terminal and the Importance of the Agreement with Petrobras

The FSRU Energos Winter will be implemented at Terminal Gás Sul (TGS), located in Santa Catarina, Brazil. TGS is the latest import terminal for LNG of the NFE in the country and has a operations schedule that begins ahead of schedule, in January 2024. This is a clear sign of NFE's commitment to providing effective and efficient energy solutions in the Brazilian market.

The general director of NFE, André Dete, highlighted the importance of this contract, stating: “We are extremely pleased to reach this agreement with Petrobras and begin operations at the TGS terminal in Santa Catarina, Brazil, ahead of schedule in January 2024. The TGS terminal is a unique, high-growth opportunity for NFE, as the connection to the gas pipeline system in southern Brazil offers a diverse, short-term set of opportunities in power and gas supply.”

Strengthening Energy Infrastructure in Latin America

In addition to this contract with Petrobras, NFE has made significant efforts in the LNG market. In September 2023, the company shipped the Pioneer II liquefaction platform to Altamira, Mexico, to join the Pioneer I and Pioneer III platforms. This move marks the completion of platforms for its Fast LNG Unit 1.

It is important to mention that NFE is collaborating with other state-owned companies in the oil and gas sector in addition to Petrobras, such as Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE), a Mexican state-owned company, in the creation of a FLNG hub on the coast of Altamira. According to the signed contracts, NFE will deploy several FLNG units, each with a capacity of 1,4 MTPA. These units will utilize CFE's existing firm pipeline transportation capacity on TC Energy's Sur de Texas-Tuxpan Gas Pipeline to deliver feed gas volumes to NFE.

Screaming demand for sustainable energy sources

The partnership and contract between NFE and CFE highlights the commitment of both companies to strengthening energy infrastructure in Latin America. With the growing demand for sources of cleaner energy and efficient, this collaboration will play a crucial role in expanding energy capacity in the region.

In summary, the contract FSRU Energos Winter's charter agreement with Petrobras is an important step for NFE and represents a new era of collaboration in the oil and gas sector. NFE is positioned to play a significant role in expanding energy infrastructure, not just in Brazil, but across Latin America. This strengthens the company's position as a leader in the search for sustainable and effective energy sources.
