State approves new state minimum wage of R$1.844,40, exceeding the national value. Divided into four bands, the adjustment seeks to meet the specific needs of the sectors and boost consumption.

The purchasing power of Santa Catarina residents is about to change with a new development that could directly impact the pockets of thousands of workers in the state.

In 2024, Santa Catarina made a decision that promises to revolutionize the job market and increase consumption: a new state minimum wage, higher than the national minimum wage, was approved.

The measure not only reflects the cost of living in the region, but also meets a long-standing demand from workers, bringing to the fore debates about the economy and quality of life.

However, what does this change really mean for those who live and work in the state?

Santa Catarina's new minimum wage, of R$1.844,40, was defined after intense negotiations between representatives of unions, employers and the state government.

According to Tupi Radio website, the adjustment, made official by the Legislative Assembly, puts the state in the spotlight by offering a value higher than the national minimum wage, currently R$1.412.

The initiative seeks to address local economic challenges, offering a significant increase in the purchasing power of Santa Catarina workers.

According to the president of the Federation of Industries of Santa Catarina (FIESC), Mรกrio Cezar de Aguiar, the discussions sought an agreement that balanced the needs of employers and employees, aiming at the stability of the labor market.

The four new salary bands in Santa Catarina

To meet the specific needs of different sectors, the new state minimum wage was divided into four salary bands, which vary according to economic activities.

This segmentation allows different categories to receive remuneration appropriate to their realities. According to the guidelines, the established values โ€‹โ€‹are as follows:

First track โ€“ R$ 1.612,26

This category includes workers in the agricultural, construction and domestic services sectors. These areas face specific challenges and represent a significant portion of the state's workforce.

Second track โ€“ R$ 1.670,56

Aimed at categories that are important to the economy of Santa Catarina, the second band covers a variety of activities, allowing adjustment to different sectors.

Third bracket โ€“ R$ 1.769,14

This category includes workers in the chemical, pharmaceutical, food and trade industries, sectors that demand higher pay to keep up with the sector's costs.

Fourth band โ€“ R$ 1.844,40

It represents the state salary ceiling for highly qualified and responsible categories, which require professionals specialized in more complex activities.

These salary ranges are a reflection of the needs of the labor market and the economic conditions of Santa Catarina, seeking to meet the cost of living and the specific challenges of each sector.

Expected effects on the economy of Santa Catarina

With the salary adjustment, the economic impact is already expected. The increase in purchasing power tends to boost consumption and, consequently, local trade.

With more money circulating, the state economy could see growth in areas such as retail and industry, in addition to a potential increase in tax revenue.

These factors are essential to promote job creation, contributing to a more dynamic and promising economic scenario.

According to experts, the new salary could create a chain of events that will benefit society as a whole, encouraging investment and strengthening the market.

Regional disparities and the national context

Despite the progress in Santa Catarina, Brazil still has large salary variations between different regions.

The South and Southeast regions tend to maintain higher salaries compared to the North and Northeast, where the cost of living is generally lower.

These disparities reflect economic differences that influence the wage policies adopted by each state.

Compared to the national minimum wage, Santa Catarina's minimum wage represents progress in the search for fairer working conditions.

The minimum wage, established in Brazil in 1940 during the government of Getรบlio Vargas, has already undergone several revisions to keep up with the country's economic and social demands.

In Santa Catarina, this update seeks to promote social justice and strengthen the regional labor market.

Social impact: workers and companies must adapt

The implementation of the new minimum wage not only affects purchasing power, but brings significant changes to the relationship between workers and employers.

Salary adjustments offer better conditions for workers, but they also require employers to adapt to new market conditions by adjusting their budgets and hiring strategies.

According to Mรกrio Cezar de Aguiar, president of FIESC, this change is essential to guarantee a healthy and balanced economy, benefiting the population and the productive sector.

With the approval of this new value, the state not only seeks greater social justice, but also establishes a milestone in the appreciation of workers, contributing to a fairer and more sustainable work environment.

The measure reinforces Santa Catarina's commitment to offering adequate conditions and protection of labor rights, reflecting a more inclusive economic scenario.

Increasing the minimum wage in Santa Catarina is an important step, but it raises questions: does this amount really meet the needs of all workers?

The villain of the high cost of living in Santa SC is the rent, so this adjustment helps, but it doesn't solve it now that most companies have decided to pay for unhealthy conditions in the form of benefits, the salary value will practically remain the same, after the discounts. Something should be done about these abusive rents, because those who receive the salary will have to choose between paying the rent and going hungry, or buying food and going to live on the street.

Here in Santa Catarina there are companies like Brametal that pay half the night shift bonus and pay unhealthiness because they work with acid. The Ministry of Labor should monitor this.

Do the companies pay this salary that politicians say they approve? Do you research it? This is to deceive the people.

I have been the leader of the family since I was 13 or 14 years old. Together with my father, we paid the rural workers 3 times the national minimum wage, and we provided other benefits, such as pork, beef, and poultry. Coffee, rice, and medical expenses. This never harmed us. Quite the contrary. The families raised children, who got married and stayed on the farm. All the farm workers bought their own homes in the city with their own resources. I am the president of a Social Integration and Services cooperative. However, I was robbed by a sugar mill owner with the support of the judiciary. The sugar mill owner took my production in 2010 and did not pay me a cent. The first instance judge declared me to be a litigant in bad faith, and the state court of Minas Gerais ruled in favor of the sugar mill owner. I filed a special appeal with the Superior Court of Justice. We have a legislative power that makes laws in its own interest and the sugar mill owner keeps delaying, supported by the OAB, and I am left without receiving the value of the initial action of 12 million reais. I intend to implement a project that I call Brasil Cooperativo, but to have the opportunity to receive borrowed resources, we have to prove that we already have the money. I am not worthy of credit because of my production capacity but because of what I already have, where what I have the system stole from me.

The minimum wage in Brazil should be around 3 thousand so that people can have a little peace and quiet and be able to live because it is an expensive country, we pay so much in taxes that 1.400 is not even enough to buy food if the family pays rent.

It remains to be seen whether every employer in Santa Catarina will be able to employ someone with a minimum wage of R$1.844,40 + Social Security and Taxes in the order of 60%=R$1.106,64. Salary+charges=R$2.951,04.
THEREFORE, let's put an end to CORRUPTION to lower charges and taxes so that employers can hire and employees can have their purchasing power guaranteed.
