Construction of a railway terminal marks a historic milestone for the state's logistics and economy. With construction underway since October and expected to generate more than a thousand jobs, the project aims to transport millions of tons of grain.
The construction of a new railway terminal of cargo, in Mato Grosso, is generating great expectation and movement in the southeast region of the state.
Amidst construction sites and heavy machinery, residents and businesspeople are witnessing the birth of an infrastructure project that promises to have a profound impact on the cities of Dom Aquino, Primavera do Leste and other nearby municipalities.
More than just a railway expansion, this terminal is part of one of the largest logistics projects underway in Brazil, coordinated by Rumo and expected to transport millions of tons of grains per year, including soybeans and corn, and also attract investments to various economic areas.

- Important highway (BR) will be renovated and selection to fill job vacancies on the project already has a start date

Private investment and regional scope
The new terminal is part of the expansion of the Senador Vicente Emílio Vuolo State Railway, which stretches for more than 700 km between Rondonópolis, Cuiabá and Lucas do Rio Verde, with a route planned to connect the north to the south of Mato Grosso.
With an entirely private investment, the project is essential to optimize cargo transportation, in addition to contributing to the reduction of trucks on the roads, easing traffic and increasing safety on the region's highways.
Impact on agribusiness and national logistics
The terminal, located in an area of 2 million square meters close to BR-070, stands out for its capacity to handle up to 10 million tons of grains annually, with a focus on essential products such as soybeans and corn.
“This initiative directly benefits local producers, reducing logistics costs and promoting a more efficient supply chain,” says Walter Mancuso, executive manager of terminal implementation at Rumo.
According to Mancuso, the new terminal not only facilitates the country's internal logistics, but also ensures faster arrival of products at the Port of Santos, favoring the competitiveness of Brazilian agriculture in the global market.
Job creation and community participation
The railway terminal project is involving several companies, led by Egelte Engenharia Ltda., and is already starting to generate employment opportunities for the local population. According to Mancuso, the project is expected to create over a thousand direct and indirect jobs, attracting workers from all over the country to the region.
The work involves, in addition to the movement of 700 thousand cubic meters of earth, an impressive consumption of more than 17 thousand cubic meters of concrete and 2.500 tons of steel, requirements that demonstrate the magnitude and importance of the construction.
Urban development and social challenges
With the arrival of workers, Primavera do Leste and Dom Aquino have been preparing to meet the growing demand for urban infrastructure.
“For at least three years, we have been working to raise awareness among businesspeople and the population about the need to expand our hotel and housing network,” highlights Joselino Soares Godoi, president of the Primavera do Leste Commercial Association (Aciple).
With around 93 thousand inhabitants and one of the largest economies in the state, the municipality hopes to attract new companies, especially agribusinesses, which will consolidate the local economic vocation based on agribusiness.
In Dom Aquino, the president of the rural union, Wildon Cardoso, mentions the importance of the work for regional development.
He explains that, in a small city with low population density, the construction of the terminal requires a series of adaptations.
“We are working together with the city government to expand the housing supply and prepare the city for population growth,” he says.
Cardoso also highlights the expected economic impact: “With this project, tax collection should increase, in addition to the generation of jobs that will transform the lives of local communities.”
Potential to boost agribusinesses
In addition to urban infrastructure, the new terminal is expected to bring advances in the installation of agro-industries in the region.
According to data from IBGE, Primavera do Leste's economy is driven by agriculture and livestock and should benefit even more from the expansion of the railway.
For Godoi, president of Aciple, the terminal represents the possibility of strengthening local trade and attracting investments that add value to regional production.
“With the completion of the works, we believe that the municipality will have more efficient logistics and an even more robust economic base”, he concludes.
A historic milestone for the economy of Mato Grosso
Located 170 kilometers from Cuiabá, Dom Aquino, a city with around 8 thousand inhabitants and an economy centered on agriculture, is preparing to gain national prominence.
The installation of the Rumo terminal represents a milestone for the municipality, which should start to attract a greater volume of business and investments.
Previously recognized for its grain and coconut production, the city is now consolidating itself as an important logistics point, with the potential to transform the region's development.
In 2026, when the railway terminal is fully operational, Mato Grosso will be connected to the national railway network with a structure capable of meeting the growth of agribusiness and local industry.
The construction not only marks a step forward for the export logistics of the state, as it signals the beginning of a new era for the economy and quality of life of the populations of Dom Aquino, Primavera do Leste and neighboring cities.

What needs to be done is to create industries alongside agribusiness, in order to add value to agricultural products. For example, we need to sell soybean oil and corn to the whole world, not the grain. The grain is also better, but with industries we create jobs and thus improve the living conditions of everyone, of the entrepreneur and the population.
Why didn't they order the construction of Rio Grande do Norte, which is very expensive due to the extreme demand for Macal? It must be a lack of interest on the part of the government.
