Promising to surpass Toyota and its own HB20, Hyundai launched a new SUV with an affordable price and great performance on the Indian automotive market..

Hyundai, one of the world automotive giants, has been drawing up new plans to reach customers. The South Korean company's main competitors are the Japanese Toyota and the American Chevrolet. After launching several large models, the company is betting on a new audience: the popular. In this way, an SUV has just been launched on the automotive market that promises to leave Toyota and HB20 behind.

Hyundai launches new cheap SUV to unlock automotive market

In India, the automaker has officially launched its newest SUV called the Exter. The vehicle is compact and was announced with a smaller size than the HB20. Despite this, the car is guaranteed to be stunning and spacious, making it a success among customers.

With simpler mechanics and a design aimed at emerging markets, the Hyundai Exter bets on a design full of striking features of an SUV. The tall body with many edges compensates for the dimensions, as it is only 3,8 meters long and has a wheelbase of 2,45 m, being smaller than the HB20 which is 4 m and 2,5 m, respectively. However, in other aspects such as width and height, at 1,7m and 1,6m, respectively, the SUV manages to stand out.

Although it is an entry-level car, the SUV, which promises to surpass some Toyota models and the brand's own HB20, has LED headlights and fog lights as standard, 14 or 15-inch wheels, and plastic protections on the wheel arches. All versions have front-wheel drive and McPherson strut front suspension and torsion beam rear suspension.

In the cabin, you can see that the instrument panel is digital and there are six airbags, ABS and air conditioning. More expensive versions also offer stability control, a multimedia center with an eight-inch screen, Internet access, sunroof, reversing camera, cruise control and push-button start.

Hyundai SUV sells for R$36 (only in India 😢)

The car, which promises to surpass Toyota and HB20, is built on the same platform as the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. Therefore, its engine is a 1.2 naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine with 95 horsepower and 11,6 kgfm of torque. There is also a 5-speed manual or automatic transmission option.

In the methane gas version, the Hyundai SUV has a power of just 69 horsepower and 9,6 kgfm, and only manual transmission.

Although there is still no forecast for it to reach the Brazilian automotive market, the model will have four variants called EX, S, SX and SX Connect. Converting the value of the new vehicle in Indian rupees to our currency, the value is around R$36 thousand. This, of course, has already excited those who dream of having a new car.

What is Hyundai's best-selling vehicle in Brazil?

In March of this year, the National Federation of Motor Vehicle Distribution (Fenabrave) made a list of the best-selling vehicles during the period and, without many surprises, confirmed that the HB20 led the ranking, with 8.363 registered units.

The mechanical package of the Hyundai HB20 is still equipped with only a 1.0 three-cylinder engine, however in aspirated and turbo options. In this case, there are 80 horsepower and 10,2 kgfm of torque.

Next came Onix, with 8.283 sales. However, in this year's total numbers, the leadership goes to competitor Chevrolet, with 1.528, until the month in question. Globally, the two brands are direct rivals and compete for the same audience, trying to reach popular customers.
