Chery revealed the new Tiggo 9L at the 2025 Shanghai Motor Show, the luxury hybrid SUV impresses with technology and sophistication.

During the Shanghai Motor Show 2025, Chery surprised the public by revealing the Tiggo 9L, a large hybrid SUV that promises to redefine the brand's standards in comfort, technology and sophistication. The model, still in the conceptual phase, already appears ready to go into production and should hit the market in 2026.

Tiggo 9L: Chery's proposal for a premium SUV

Chery's new proposal in the luxury SUV segment has gained a name and personality: Tiggo 9L.

O vehicle, which represents a leap in design and technological features within the Tiggo line, was presented as a “mass production concept car”.

In other words, even though it is a preview, the model already appears to be very close to its final configuration.

According to Chery executives, the Tiggo 9L will be an SUV for up to seven occupants, combining generous interior space with intelligent driving and comfort systems.

The official launch is expected to take place in 2026, although no specific date has yet been confirmed by the Chinese automaker.

Features of the new Tiggo 9L

Inspired by the concept named by the manufacturer as “Aesthetics of the Forces of Nature”, the Chery Tiggo 9L adopts a robust body, with angular lines and a striking visual presence.

The front grille draws attention by displaying the name CHERRY illuminated in large letters, in addition to an LED strip that connects the headlights in an H shape — a solution that reinforces the model's futuristic look.

The sides of the Tiggo 9L are highlighted by sharp creases and wide fenders, while the rear follows the same pattern as the front headlights, with vertical taillights also in H shape.

Compared to the traditional Tiggo 9, the new SUV is considerably larger — and this growth is reflected in the letter “L” in its name, which indicates its elongated body.

At 5,05 meters long and with a 2,95-meter wheelbase, the Tiggo 9L is the largest SUV ever designed by Chery within the Tiggo family. The model was designed to comfortably transport six or seven occupants, distributed across three rows of seats.

The interior also offers independent climate control zones, screens for passengers in the second row and a series of treats designed to make journeys more pleasant for everyone on board.

The front panel is dominated by three large LCD screens that occupy practically the entire length of the cockpit.

Cameras installed around the car provide a 540º view — a combination of the traditional 360º view with additional sensors that monitor even what is underneath the vehicle.

Artificial intelligence and cutting-edge connectivity

The Tiggo 9L's technological proposal is taken to a new level with the use of on-board artificial intelligence. The car learns from the driver's habits and automatically adjusts settings such as temperature, seats and entertainment systems.

Control of all these functionalities is managed by a Falcon 700 processor with chips measuring just 3 nanometers — one of the most advanced solutions in the automotive industry today.

In addition, the SUV monitors biometric signals such as heart rate and fatigue, offering preventive alerts in case of tiredness at the wheel. Semi-autonomous driving is also present, operating both on highways and in urban areas.

Hybrid powertrain with a focus on performance

Chery's new Tiggo 9L will be powered by a hybrid set with four engines: a 2.0 turbo combustion engine with 272 hp, capable of operating with low-octane fuels, and three electric motors not yet detailed by the automaker.

The technology behind this hybrid system is based on the recently launched Kunpeng Hybrid Global Architecture, a versatile platform that will be used by Chery for vehicles focusing on both economy and performance.

Also noteworthy is the new three-speed DHT automatic transmission, developed especially for hybrid systems.

The company also invested in the use of silicon carbide in power modules, which guarantees better electrical performance, lower energy consumption and more efficient cooling.

Intelligent suspension and more precise maneuvers

Another distinguishing feature of the Chery Tiggo 9L is its active hydraulic suspension, which uses artificial intelligence to identify irregularities in the road surface and adjust the rigidity of the system before impacts occur. The goal is to maximize comfort and stability, even on more challenging terrain.

The rear-wheel steering system is also impressive. It reduces the turning radius during low-speed maneuvers and increases agility in fast corners, making the SUV easier to drive both in the city and on the highway.

The Tiggo 9L, still in the conceptual phase, has already demonstrated sufficient maturity to compete with giants in the luxury sector. The expectation now is for the official confirmation of its arrival in global markets — including Brazil.
