Statkraft places an order with Nordex, the world's largest wind turbine producer, for 80 MW in Bahia. In December 2021, the Group received orders from South America for 245 MW

Norwegian company Statkraft – Europe's largest renewable energy producer – has commissioned Nordex to supply and install 14 N163/5.X turbines for the 80 MW Morro do Cruzeiro wind farm in Bahia. The order also includes a three-year Premium Service contract with an option to extend.

The Morro do Cruzeiro wind farm is being built in Bahia. The wind farm is located in the municipality of Brotas de Macaúbas, in a mountainous region.

Installation of the turbines on 120-meter concrete towers is scheduled to start in the summer of 2023. The turbines will be delivered in a 5,7 MW operating mode.

The Nordex Group will be responsible for manufacturing the plant's nacelles, hubs, rotor blades and the 120-meter-high concrete towers.

The largest wind turbine manufacturer in the world has received orders from South America for 245 MW.

Another order came from another developer, in Chile, for the supply of 29 N163/5.X turbines, for a 165 MW wind project, including a Premium Service contract for an initial period of two years, with various options for extensions up to 15 years.

Delivery and installation of the N163/5.X turbines is scheduled for autumn 2022, with commissioning of the first turbines planned for the end of the same year. The client and the project are not disclosed.

Statkraft is a leading hydropower company internationally and Europe's largest renewable energy generator. The Group produces hydroelectric power, wind power, solar power, gas power and supplies district heating. Statkraft is a global company operating in the energy market. Statkraft has 4.600 employees in 18 countries.

Nordex won a new contract for the Brazilian AES to manufacture and install 65 turbines for a wind power plant in Rio Grande do Norte

AES Brasil once again hired the German multinational Nordex to manufacture and install 55 N163/5.X turbines. After ordering 314 MW for the 313,5 MW Cajuína wind farm in June 2021, AES ordered, this week, another 65 N163 / 5.X turbines with a total volume of 370 MW for the “Cajuína 2” extension phase.

The contract again includes service for the turbines for an initial period of five years, with various options to extend up to 20 years.

“Cajuína 2” is part of the Cajuína Wind Complex, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, in the municipality of Lajes. Constant average wind speeds of approx. 9,5 m/s gives the site a high capacity factor.

The turbines are expected to be installed in the summer of 2022 and will be supplied in a project-specific operating mode of 5,7 MW. The Nordex Group will manufacture the poles, most of the nacelles, the 120-meter concrete towers and the rotor blades in Brazil.

Giant 80-meter wind turbine, manufactured by Aeris Energy for Nordex, embarks in Porto do Pecém on its way to Europe

The Pecém port complex, in Ceará, celebrates the record shipment of a giant 80,1 meter wind turbine for the German Nordex — one of the largest manufacturers of wind energy turbines in the world!

The size of the wind blade (or propeller) manufactured by Aeris Energy for Nordex is impressive. The shipment of the first unit of this giant — the largest wind turbine ever produced in the southern hemisphere — involved a specialized operation. The more than 80 meters in length required the involvement of several professionals, from manufacturing to transport to the Port of Pecém, in Ceará.

Vortex bladeless turbines could revolutionize wind farms and change the world of renewable energy

Vortex Bladeless, a technology startup based in Spain, is developing wind turbines that don't need blades (or propellers). One of the objectives is to be able to use these turbines in urban and residential spaces, where the impact of ecological parks is too great. Similar to a “giant straw”, according to its creators, it came to change the world of renewable energy.

Bladeless turbines (or propellers) could be the future of wind energy and renewable energy. Vortex Bladeless claims that the turbine is not a danger to bird migration patterns or wildlife, especially if used in urban environments. Additionally, he claims that the noise created would be at a frequency practically undetectable to humans.
