Billion-dollar investment to expand capacity and improve services on more than 700 km of federal highway in the North!
The first concession for a federal highway in the North of Brazil has been approved, marking a major step forward for local infrastructure. The BR-364 auction, scheduled for February, involves an ambitious R$10,226 billion project, with the aim of expanding capacity and improving service levels on 721,07 kilometers of the highway. estrada.

The concession of a federal highway in the state of Rondônia is closer to becoming a reality. The proposal to transfer BR-364/RO to private initiative was approved this Thursday (31/10), during a board meeting National Land Transport Agency (ANTT).

The notice for the concession auction will be available on the agency's website starting this Friday (1/11). The auction, on the São Paulo Stock Exchange (B3), is scheduled for February 27, at 14:XNUMX p.m. The winner of the auction will be the one offering the biggest discount on the basic toll rate.
Importance of BR-364 for the economy of the North region
According to the project coordinated by the Ministry of Transport, 721,07 kilometers of the highway will be granted between the state capital, Porto Velho, and the municipality of Vilhena, on the border with Mato Grosso. The section connects the west of Mato Grosso with the states of Rondônia and Acre, facilitating the distribution of products in the north of the country and exports through the region's ports.
"Today we approved another bidding notice for BR-364/RO, the Rota Agro Norte. It is the first concession in the state of Rondônia, a very important route for agribusiness. This project will be our twelfth auction, which will take place in February 2025.", emphasized the National Secretary of Road Transport, Viviane Esse. The planned investment is R$ 10,226 billion over the 30-year contract.
Improvements planned for the concession
The concession process includes the exploration of the infrastructure and the provision of services for recovery, maintenance, conservation, operation, monitoring, implementation of improvements, maintenance of the service level and expansion of capacity of BR-364/RO. The contract will be valid for 30 years.
The winner of the auction will be responsible for executing important works, including the implementation of 107,57 kilometers of duplications, 190,59 kilometers of additional lanes, 34,45 kilometers of new accesses and 17,79 km of marginal roads. It is estimated that interventions and services related to them will generate more than 94,9 thousand jobs in the locations impacted by the concession, including direct and indirect jobs and income effects.
Discussion on the optimization of the BR-101 concession
Also on Thursday, the ANTT board discussed the public consultation period on the proposal to optimize the concession of BR-101, between Bahia and Espírito Santo, currently managed by ECO 101 Concessionária de Rodovias S/A. Public hearings will be held to gather suggestions for the proposal to readapt and optimize the contract, which includes a stretch with a total length of 478,7 kilometers, which goes from the junction of BA-698, to the border between the states of Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro.
The period for submitting contributions will run from November 8 until 18 p.m. on December 23. Two public sessions will also be held, in person and by videoconference or other electronic means, with live broadcast on ANTT's YouTube channel. Check out the schedule:
