Ocyan, through the Offshore Maintenance and Services area (MSO), signed an agreement with the Canadian company Tube-Mac to offer a new technology to players in the oil and gas and petrochemical market in Brazil. This technology provides the installation and assembly of pipes using connections without soldering, cold, called Pyplok®. The initiative is part of Ocyan's strategy to bring technological solutions to the country that can be applied in the sector and are used outside Brazil, through partnerships with foreign companies that do not yet operate locally. Tube-Mac is the first of these.
“Today, the market asks us for this change, which is a response to the growth of activities and operations in the business. The idea is to join companies that complement our services, adding innovation to increase our delivery capacity, improve the cost-benefit ratio and reduce risk, an important factor for safety, our main value”, explains Vinicius Castilho, director of the Maintenance area and Ocyan Offshore Services.

Tube-Mac's material allows weld-free interventions and assemblies to be made in pipes from 1/4” to 4” and metric connections from 6mm to 60mm, with pressures of up to 10.000 psi and temperatures of up to 205ºC. The installation process takes less time, bringing greater efficiency and operational safety during interventions. “By way of comparison, the installation of 10 pieces of Pyplok can be done in just 2 hours, while the same work with soldering can take between 1 and 2 days.”, explains the director of Ocyan.
Vinicius also points out that the solution has already been used in several projects abroad, being widely used in the oil and gas market by major international companies such as Equinor, Shell, Chevron, Aker, NOV and by Ocyan itself during the assembly of the Delba III probe out of the country. In addition, Pyplok connections have DNV, Lloyds, ABS, BV and RMS (“Russian Maritime Register of Shipping”) Certifications.
Tube-Mac Solderless (Pyplok) connections, in general, have a low installation cost, less man-hours worked, leak-free system, greater durability, easy installation, not requiring additional inspections by Non-Destructive Tests, using cold technology safely and reliably.
Ocyan's Offshore Maintenance and Services (MSO) area continues to provide maintenance and assembly of assets that include integrated planning of maintenance activities, planning and execution of production and drilling shutdowns, repair solutions, project assembly (welding, boilermaking, piping and electrical/instrumentation), industrial painting and high-performance painting, engineering projects, commissioning services, etc. With 17 years of experience, the area has accumulated more than 30 contracts, more than 10 tons mounted on board offshore installations, 1 million m2 painted and 14 million meters of scaffolding mounted, for example.
