CIP and Ignitis Renewables win auction in Estonia to install offshore wind energy.
Aker Offshore Wind has won an auction to build an offshore wind farm off the coast of South Korea as part of the country's plans to increase the share of renewable energy in its energy matrix.
Aker Offshore Wind's proposal was for US$1,6 billion for the adjacent Ulleungdo offshore area, securing the rights for the development of an offshore wind facility, with the expectation that power generated by offshore wind will contribute significantly to the production of the country's oceanic renewable energy.

Offshore wind potential capacity
Although the theoretical potential capacity of both sites is estimated at 2,3 GW, depending on the results of the environmental impact assessment, site optimization, as well as other factors, the real capacity da offshore wind energy the park is expected to have between 1 and 1,5 GW.
Operation forecast for 2035
The project is expected to come into operation around 2035, the partners said.
Electronic bidding
The bidding took place electronically from January 11 to 17, 2024. The Estonian Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority (CPTRA), which organized the bidding, is expected to officially confirm the winner within three working days after the announcement of the bidding results .
