Artificial intelligence is now in the world of oil and gas! According to companies in the field, technology helps in several areas of services
With the advancement of artificial intelligence in recent time, various sectors of service provision introduced technology into their daily lives. This time, it was the oil and gas sector that surrendered to the technology fever, which adhered to the benefits that technology offers and implemented it in various services in the area, according to the Telesintese website.
The introduction of technology in the oil and gas sector ranges from prospecting to the distribution of the final product to refineries. An example of a company in the oil and gas industry that uses artificial intelligence in its services is Ocyan, which, with a fleet of five offshore oil and gas drillers and two FPSOs, provides solutions for the oil and gas industry, developing projects installation, manufacture and development of subsea equipment, as well as maintenance.
According to Ocyan's executive manager, Hygo Santos, the company has an important challenge for the use of technology, since it operates in all areas of oil and gas.

According to him: “We operate both with oil production, drilling, construction and subsea maintenance, including decommissioning of oil wells in the Campos Basin. We have nine vessels and a contingent of 4 professionals. We just don't work on distribution. We use hyperautomation features (umbrella concept which covers several areas of AI), from the back office to the front end operation”.
More technology in the oil and gas sector
The technology is also present in the area of demand management in the oil and gas sector, which now uses RPA to register its accounting and tax classification. More than 20 thousand management items have already been treated with the technology, including offshore supplies.
According to the manager: “We work with safety stocks, but the vessels have limited physical space. You have to find a sweet spot between the need for supplies and the space to use the technology. For this, we have the consumption profile of each item. We have professionals in the financial and engineering areas that we trained to master RPAs”.
In addition, the company concluded with Schlumberger a prototype contract for measuring services using blockchain. The tool it works like this: from the moment the service is executed, sensors and algorithms make the measurement.
“We now have an end-to-end audited process. It is an industry need to improve its efficiency. Ocyan works on two fronts on vessels: predictive maintenance; and improved communication for remote operation in the future. I don't see that artificial intelligence will replace human labor. Ocyan has been working to bring people to the forefront, empowering them”, concludes Santos.
