Technical visit to Rio de Janeiro reinforces commitment to the naval industry
The Mixed Parliamentary Front in Defense of the Brazilian Naval Industry, led by federal deputy Alexandre Lindenmeyer (PT-RS), carried out technical visits to the Renave and Mauá shipyards in Rio de Janeiro. This meeting, which took place on Friday (17), aimed to strengthen dialogue with universities and institutions involved in the revitalization of the country's naval sector.
The purpose of the visit to the shipyards
The mission of the Parliamentary Front is clear: to get to know the structures and potential of naval construction units up close. The group noted that, despite the installed capacity, the shipyards are generating jobs and income far below their potential. “We are on an important journey towards the resumption of the naval industry, a strategic sector for Brazil”, emphasized Lindenmeyer, highlighting the active role of the Parliamentary Front in this process.
Reindustrialization and the future of the shipping industry
The president of the Front highlights the vital importance of the naval industry in the context of the country's reindustrialization and in Brazil's repositioning in the new world economic order. The resumption of investment in the naval, offshore and shipbuilding industries since the 2000s has had a significant impact on the economy, generating jobs and developing a robust network of national suppliers.

The vice-president of the Front, federal deputy Jandira Feghali (PCdoB-RJ), highlighted the relevance of the technical visits carried out at the shipyards. “We received proposals to help the sector recover and we diagnosed bottlenecks that contribute greatly to the work of the Front.”
Defense of national sovereignty and recovery of the sector
Joacir Pedro, director of the Single Federation of Oil Workers (FUP), highlighted the importance of the Parliamentary Front in defending national sovereignty and resuming the naval sector. “It is essential to have Petrobras works being carried out in Brazil,” he said. The 1st secretary of the Front, federal deputy Lindbergh Farias (PT-RJ), recalled that the best moments in the naval sector were during the Lula and Dilma governments, highlighting the need to resume the policy of valuing local content.
Dialogue with universities and creation of a report
The members of the Front met with deans of important universities in Rio de Janeiro to discuss the prospects for resuming the shipping industry. The goal is to create a report that points out ways to revitalize quality jobs and improve legislation, overcoming bottlenecks and boosting the shipping industry.
Participation of key representatives
The agenda also included the participation of state deputy Verônica Lima (PT-RJ) and representatives of entities such as Petrobras, Transpetro, Sinaval, among others. These forays into shipyards are essential for accumulating knowledge and gathering proposals from workers and industry, aiming to grow and strengthen the naval segment, which is so important for the country's economy.
