When questioned by federal deputy Danilo Forte, the president of Petrobras said that the thermoelectric plant will work with the return of the regasifier vessel
Yesterday, Tuesday (14/09), according to the Diário do Nordeste website, in a session at the Chamber of Deputies, the president of Petrobras, Joaquim Silva e Luna, stated that the thermoelectric power plant in Fortaleza should return to operation in October, with the return to Ceará of the natural gas regasifier vessel, which had been moved to Bahia. Return of the regasifier vessel to the thermoelectric plant to resume operations
In the debate in the Chamber of Deputies, the CEO of Petrobras, Joaquim Silva e Luna, was questioned by federal deputy Danilo Forte (PSDB-CE) about the paralysis of the Fortaleza Thermoelectric plant and the operation below potential at Térmica Ceará, even in the context of the crisis energy. The deputy says that the Fortaleza thermal plant is stopped. Not even diesel oil – which is more expensive and more polluting – is running, and the Ceará thermal plant is running below its capacity. It has 220 MW and is running at 176, he said.
The head of Petrobras said that the vessel's movement, which generated controversy in Ceará, was done to increase national gas production. He also stated that the return of the thermoelectric plant will take place after the conclusion of the lease of the terminal in Bahia. The agreement for this should be done today, Wednesday (15), he said.

Contracts that Petrobras has in the state of Ceará
Danilo Forte questioned the Petrobras representative about the operation of the thermoelectric plants in Uruguaiana, Cuiabá, Norte Fluminense, Linhares, Espírito Santo and Santa Cruz, which would not be operating fully.
The president of Petrobras, Silva e Luna declared that the first two do not have a contract with the state-owned company. “North Fluminense, Linhares and Espírito Santo are working. Our contract is working; one of them that had a problem came back today”, he continued. He also informed that the Santa Cruz plant has a maintenance shutdown scheduled for the 30th, after which it will start working again, he concluded.

Petrobras published a note announcing that it will deactivate the thermoelectric plant ThermoCamaçari, in the state of Bahia, after concluding negotiations with Proquigel Química for leasing the development. In March of this year, the state-owned company had already contacted Aneel to carry out the decommissioning of the UTE, claiming that the location would be unfeasible and also informing that the thermoelectric plant would no longer be part of Petrobras' natural gas and energy generation plans.
In a note to the market, the state-owned company informed that it will start the decommissioning process of UTE TermoCamaçari, which already has its grant revoked by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel). Petrobras also said that this operation is in line with the optimization of the portfolio and the improvement of the company's capital allocation, aiming at generating value for shareholders.
The deactivation of the thermoelectric plant, after not following the negotiations with Proquigel, is part of a strategy by Petrobras in the area of natural gas and energy, which aims at the competitive operation of the own commercialization of natural gas and the optimization of the product portfolio thermoelectric for self-consumption. In accordance with such strategic direction, the state-owned company started the procedure to revoke the grant of the TermoCamaçari Power Plant. In 2017, the thermoelectric plant in Bahia, powered by natural gas, was completely surrounded by problems that ended up making it unfeasible. In 2020, Petrobras had even registered TermoCamaçari and several other thermal energy assets in an auction planned by the government to sign a 15-year contract for the production of natural gas, including new or renovated projects.
