According to Carlos José Travassos, executive manager of Águas Profundas, the initiative is far from being a move by Petrobras to leave the Campos Basin. “This is a fundamental requirement for the continuity of our operations in more challenging scenarios. It is just one part of the renovation plan already underway for the Campos Basin, which covers the exploratory campaign of the 14 blocks acquired between 2017 and 2019 and occupy an area practically the size of a new Campos Basin”, says Travassos.

Travassos also states that the revitalization of Marlim includes the interconnection of more than 100 wells to the systems already in operation, complementary development projects, new production systems with the installation of three new FPSOs, the reorganization of the flow networks, the recovery of the integrity of existing units. “The establishment of a partnership in Marlim allows the sharing of costs and risks and of course opportunities. This movement reinforces cash generation, important not only for reducing our debt, but guarantees the investments foreseen in the Campos Basin renovation plan”, concludes the executive manager of Águas Profundas.
Petrobras explains in a statement that potential buyers qualified for this phase will receive instructions on the divestment process and that the main subsequent stages of the project will be informed to the market in due course.
This disclosure is in accordance with Petrobras' internal rules and with the special procedure for the assignment of exploration rights.
