According to the ANP, the operation is being carried out in a water depth of 1.850 meters, in the well baptized with the technical name 9-BUZ-48D-RJS.

The Búzios oil field explored by Petrobras in the Santos Basin pre-salt, was discovered in 2010 and is the largest deepwater oil field in the world. Currently, there are five platforms producing the asset. But this number is expected to increase soon.

Petrobras is currently bidding to contract three more FPSO platforms for Búzios, in addition to the tenders for the supply of rigs, well services and subsea collection and export systems for the P-78, P-79 and FPSO Almirante Tamandaré units that will be installed in the field.

SBM Offshore is chosen by Petrobras to charter the largest FPSO in Brazil to be installed in the Búzios field

Petrobras has started negotiations with offshore supplier SBM Offshore to lease an FPSO-type floating oil platform for the giant Búzios field in the pre-salt Santos Basin, the state-owned company said in a statement on September 15.

The storage and production outflow unit (FPSO), which will be called Almirante Tamandaré, will be the sixth FPSO in Búzios and the largest in Brazil, according to Petrobras. The FPSO will have a production capacity of 225 barrels of oil and 12 million m3 of gas per day and will start producing in the second half of 2024.

Petrobras stated that it intends to hire SBM Offshore directly, as it found that "at this moment" only SBM Offshore has the capacity to meet the technical requirements demanded by the Brazilian oil company.
