Petrobras demands support vessels
Petrobras renews with a DOF ship

DOF support vessels have been gradually renewing their contracts with Petrobras and confirming an increase in offshore activities

Little by little, the entire DOF fleet has had its contracts renewed by Petrobras. Now it was the turn of the AHTS Skandi Fluminense vessel. See other contracts that DOF won in Brazil.
The vessel, built in 2007, is an AHTS 18.000 (anchor handling), is operated by DOF Subsea and the contract extension was announced by Petrobras and Norskan, a Brazilian subsidiary of the Norwegian shipping company DOF.

The AHTS Skandi Fluminense contract now runs until September 2020, as the last contract with Petrobras was signed in September 2018.

Other contracts won by DOF

It was no coincidence that the DOF was awarded by Petrobras, on March 29 of this year, as one of its best suppliers market in 2018.

In February of this year, the vessels Skandi Commander, Skandi Olympia and Skandi Chieftain were awarded by Petrobras with a 3-year contract worth US$ 150 million.

In June, it was the turn of the Skandi Hav vessel, owned by DOF, to have its contract extended once again by Petrobras to provide support to offshore services and thus complete 10 years providing support to offshore operations.

Also in June this year, the AHTS-class ship Skandi Botafogo will have its contract renewed for one year.

Confirming the growth in demand for this type of vessel in Brazil due to the increase in offshore activity, recent studies carried out by the Secretary of Economic Development of Rio de Janeiro, which was presented during the Nor-Shipping 2019 fair, in Oslo, Norway, point to a very optimistic scenario for the national naval industry, after 5 years of crisis.
The study points to a need by the year 2030 for 270 new vessels to support Exploration and Production activities.
