The contracting of services was originally formalized in 2011, for US$ 200 million, with the company then acquired by GE O&G.
BHGE – the result of the combination between GE O&G and Baker Hughes – was the only company to present a proposal in the tender promoted by Petrobras to hire a base for two years.
The oil company's objective was to contract a larger part base, but, as the process had already lasted two years, the state-owned company decided to open a competition to guarantee the fulfillment of its demand until the new plant was available.
Negotiations for contracting the greenfield project are ongoing with TechnipFMC, which offered an area in Porto do Açu, where it has a flexible lines factory.
The bidding notice provides for the contracting of a base with four berths to store up to 300 coils for five years.
