Petrobras will compete in the Sergipe basin
Consortium and Petrobras dispute concessions

Petrobras and consortium formed by major oil companies eyeing the Offer of nine exploratory blocks in deep waters in the Sergipana Basin

After the great discovery of natural gas in the Sergipe-Alagoas basin, the first Permanent Supply Cycle of the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin is attracting the attention of the consortium formed by the oil companies ExxonMobil (50%), Enjoy (30%) and Murphy Oil (20%) and Petrobras.
Nine exploratory blocks will be offered in deep waters in the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin and the oil companies that already have a concession in the region will have to make proposals, as they are already working to develop natural gas projects.

The companies already have license applications in progress for 11 exploratory wells in areas of the 13th, 14th and 15th ANP bidding rounds. At the time, the consortium acquired the operation of blocks SEAL-M-351, SEAL-M-428, SEAL-M-430, SEAL-M-501, SEAL-M-503, SEAL-M-573. The wells are offshore Sergipe and the closest to the coast is 67 km from the city of Brejo Grande.

The market already expects Petrobras to enter the dispute, as it already has business in the region. Last week, the Brazilian state-owned company had already managed to renew the installation license for the FPSO Cidade de São Vicente in the ultra-deep waters of the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin, for until January 15, 2020, giving it more time to work.

Petrobras plans to carry out a Long Duration Test (EWT) by the end of the year to analyze the Farfan discovery, in the SEAL-M-426 exploratory block area.

Among the outstanding operations of the ExxonMobil consortium, Queiroz Galvão E&P and Murphy Oil, are the SEAL-M-501 and SEAL-503 blocks, acquired in the 14th ANP round for BRL 67 million and BRL 42 million, respectively.
Another interesting Petrobras business in the region is a 128 km long pipeline to transport natural gas production from the Farfan, Barra and Muriú reservoir production projects, in the area of exploratory blocks BM-SEAL-10 and BM-SEAL- 11, in deep waters of the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin, which is in the process of environmental licensing.

The first FPSO oil to be installed in Module 1 in the region is scheduled for October 2023 and there is also speculation in the market that Shell, which has already declared its clear intention to enter natural gas projects, will also invest in the Sergipe basin.
