The company is interested in new power generation plants and opportunities involving Petrobras' gas assets. The Company will keep an eye on possible business in renewables, mainly in hydroelectric plants, said Marcelo Habibe, CFO of Eneva in an interview with Reuters.

They are on Eneva's radar in energy auctions, mainly the so-called A-5 and A-6 auctions, already scheduled for September of next year, which will contract new plants for delivery in 2026 and 2027.

According to Habibe, in the medium term, the company will seek to explore its gas areas, including seven blocks acquired this month in the so-called permanent offer auction of ANP, where it purchased assets in the Amazon, Solimões and Paraná basins.

The company's plan is to replicate the business model used in the Parnaíba Basin, where the company produces gas and supplies its own thermoelectric park.

Eneva's investments in the Amazon and Petrobras assets

In Amazonas, according to the executive, “You can almost create a new Eneva, doing an account with little refinement, just to get an idea of the order of magnitude.”

The company intends to start exploration work in blocks in the Amazon basin in mid-2021. More intense activities in most of the other assets are planned for later, probably 2023 and 2024, while the Juruá block, in the Solimões Basin, should be used “in the long term”.

At the same time, Eneva is still keeping an eye on Petrobras' divestment program, which has sought to focus its activities on oil production in deep and ultra-deep waters.

According to Habibe, the company has been following the oil company's movements and is waiting for the sales of gas exploration fields and thermoelectric plants. “It ended up not making sense in our business plan, but from the moment it starts to sell assets that have a better fit in our plan, we look. Mainly the gas, we will certainly evaluate, ”she said.

Eneva's expansion plans also involve projects already under development, such as the Jaguatirica thermal plant, which should start operations around September 2021.
