In a decision, the minister imposed a fine of R$500 and stated that even if the right to strike is guaranteed by law, “there are limits”
Minister Ives Gandra, from the Superior Labor Court (TST), understood that the Oil Workers' Strike was illegal and forced 90% of the workers to return to their jobs at the approximately 30 Petrobras units. The strike that began this Saturday (01) already brings together more than 17 employees of the large state oil, oil and gas company.

Fine of half a million for Petrobras
In his dispatch, Gandra determined a fine of BRL 500 per day for unions that do not resume their workforce. The decision was in response to the board of Petrobras, which filed a collective bargaining agreement this Monday (03) against union members, claiming that the strike was abusive.
In an interview with GGN this morning, the Permanent Negotiation Commission reported that the purpose of the strike is not to harm the activities of the state-owned company and oil production, which according to them would affect the Brazilian population, but to obtain the guarantee of collective agreements that Petrobras has not established since the closure of the Paraná Nitrogen Fertilizer Factory (Fafen) and the thousands of expected layoffs.

The group occupies one of the rooms at Petrobras headquarters, in downtown Rio, and brings together some of the spokespersons for the general stoppage of oil workers. The TST minister restricted the fine to unions in Norte Fluminense, Bahia, Espírito Santo and the Single Federation of Petroleum Workers (FUP). Other smaller unions would suffer a penalty of R$ 250 if they do not comply with the end of the strike.

The oil tanker strike that started on Saturday has not impacted the company's production so far and operations are still within safety criteria, according to the state-owned company in a note this Tuesday. The Single Federation of Petroleum Workers (FUP), on the other hand, said this Tuesday that the stoppage is supported by around 14,75 workers, or 80% of the total in the 12 states where the movements take place.
