Anticipation of the declaration of commerciality of Moita Bonita, in the Sergipe basin, is in line with the government's plan to increase gas production
The approval, yesterday (04/07), by the ANP, of the inclusion of a new well in the discovery evaluation plan (PAD) of Moita Bonita and the change of deadline to December 1st of this year, confirms the state-owned company's intention to anticipate to the maximum the production of the Sergipe basin after the Petrobras recently announced its biggest gas discovery since the rich pre-salt reserves were announced in 2006.
With the adoption of the measures, Petrobras wants to anticipate the declaration of commerciality of the Moita Bonita prospect, in deep waters off Sergipe.

grandeur of discovery
At the same time, Petrobras is looking for a partner to develop the Sergipe / Alagoas basin project, where it is estimated that there will be a need for two FPSOs in the region, the first of which will be installed in 2023, and will have a capacity of 8,5 million m³/day of natural gas compression and processing capacity of 180 barrels/day.
This grandeur of the FPSO is only compared to the large pre-salt FPSOs in Santos, in a state that produces less than 1,8 million m³/day.
Meanwhile the Petrobras continues with high offshore activity in the Sergipe basin, drilling is carried out by the Petrobras 10000 drillship, which is operated by Transocean.
The Brazilian oil company is selling 35% of its stake in the area, which is 75%, as the asset was included in Petrobras' divestment plan, since May last year.
Moita Bonita is among the six fields discovered in deep waters in the Sergipe Basin, the others are: Cumbe, Barra, Muriú, Farfan and Poço Verde.
The declarations of commerciality, according to the planning of the Brazilian state-owned company, before being anticipated, would begin in the second half of 2020.
