The mark takes place in the same year as the 20th anniversary of the signing of the concession contract for the pre-salt block BM-S-11, where the Petrobras asset is located.

In a statement released this Monday (28), Petrobras stated that it reached an accumulated production of 2 billion barrels of oil equivalent (boe) in July this year, in the Tupi field, located in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin. The state-owned company is the operator of the asset with a 65% stake, in partnership with Shell Brasil Petróleo Ltda (25%) and Petrogal Brasil SA (10%).

Formerly known as Lula field, Tupi had its name changed by Judgment of July 7, 2020, in popular action, which determined the annulment of the designation of the Tupi area as Lula's field.

The concession began production of its first definitive system in 2010, with the operation of the FPSO Cidade de Angra do Reis, and is currently the largest oil and gas producing field in the country.

According to Petrobras, this record occurs in the same year that celebrates the 20th anniversary of the signing of the concession contract for block BM-S-11, where the asset is located, 230 km off the coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro.

Petrobras also highlighted the development of technologies and innovations that allowed the production of oil in pre-salt fields, such as Tupi, emphasizing the partnership with research institutions and partner companies and suppliers.

The state-owned company also informed that it seeks to develop projects and techniques, together with its partners in the BM-S-11 block, aiming at revitalizing the field even before the beginning of its decline, with the objective of increasing the oil and gas recovery factor of the asset, allowing to create value by increasing the efficiency of operations.
