New contract for Managed Pressure Drilling services will be opened by Petrobras on the 05th and should encourage suppliers
To meet demand for Surface Well Pressure Management (Managed Pressure Drilling – MPD) services, Petrobras will open commercial proposals on December 05th to provide services related to the development of this technique. The contract period will be 12 days, with a mobilization period of 540 days. See also that the 17th Bidding Round for Offshore Fields is authorized by the Government.

A Petrobras explains in the notice that during the drilling operation in regions with thick layers of salt, in intervals with HPHT problems (i.e., high pressure and temperature) or long horizontal stretches, there is usually an increase in pressure at the bottom of the well, which can cause operational problems and, consequently, non-productive times.
For this reason, the industry has focused on the development of Managed Pressure Drilling techniques, which propose to manage the pressures at the bottom of the well, with the objective of reducing the number of stops due to well problems and considerably reducing the downtime. productive.
