Charter contract for the vessel Mr. Chafic and the implementation of hybrid propulsion

Petrobras signed a charter contract for the vessel Mr. Chafic, of the AHTS type, with the Bram Offshore. This vessel will be used for maritime transport of cargo by Offshore Logistics, meeting the operational demands of E&P and Drilling Rigs. The main novelty of this contract is the implementation, by October 2024, of a hybrid propulsion. Batteries will be installed on board, allowing the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and fuel consumption. Petrobrás expects to achieve reductions of around 15% in these aspects.

Recognition of the importance of energy transition in logistics operations by Petrobras

Petrobras recognizes the importance of the energy transition in the logistics sector and is committed to meeting society's demands in a sustainable manner. Cláudio Schlosser, Director of Logistics, Commercialization and Markets at Petrobras, highlights the magnitude of the company's logistics operations and emphasizes the need to seek innovative solutions that promote sustainability throughout the chain of energy supply operations. The state-owned company invests in initiatives aimed at position the company as a leader in energy, generating value and ensuring present and future prosperity.

With this, it is clear that Petrobras has reinforced its commitment to the energy transition and the use of innovative technologies, aiming at decarbonization of logistics operations, without compromising safety and competitiveness. The ship Mr. Chafic will start its operations in October 2023 and the hybrid configuration will be inaugurated in the following months, marking another step towards the transformation of the sector.

Seamless integration of hybrid propulsion into the vessel system and its benefits

The seamless integration of hybrid propulsion technology into the vessel's system is an important aspect of this Petrobras project. Batteries power the main engines, resulting in a reduction in fuel consumption. This allows the operation of the vessel with a smaller number of generators on the bus, maintaining operational safety.

Furthermore, this hybrid approach improves vessel efficiency, saves resources and reduces pollutant emissions by Petrobras. DNV certification ensures compliance with the highest safety standards and protection of the environment.

The charter contract for the vessel Mr. Chafic by Petrobrás, in partnership with Bram Offshore, highlights the implementation of hybrid propulsion. The installation of batteries on board will make it possible to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and fuel consumption, seeking to sustainability and efficiency in logistical operations.
