Petrobras: The strategic plan for the third Lula government

Petrobras promises to once again be a vector of Brazil's development with a strategic plan, acquisition of solar and wind power plants, distribution of electrical energy and modernization of the naval fleet.

A Petrobras is one of the largest oil companies in the world. A Petrobras is always looking for new technologies and partnerships to guarantee a sustainable future for the energy sector.

Recently, the companhia announced an investment plan for the coming years, aimed at developing clean energy and reducing environmental impacts. A Petrobras aims to become a global reference in sustainability. In addition companhia is committed to increasing the efficiency of its operations and reducing carbon emissions.

Petrobras strategic plan 2024-2028

Greenhouse gas emissions from electricity generation are entering into structural decline, according to the IEA. The first strategic plan of Lula's (PT) third term is being executed by Petrobras, focusing on a series of investments aimed at the country's sustainable development.

Renewal of concessions and challenges

Petrobras is committed to putting the R$102 billion investments foreseen in the 2024-2028 strategic plan off the ground. The company faces challenges with the natural gas production project in Sergipe and uncertainties in the manufacture of fertilizers.

Acquisitions and right of preference

Petrobras expressed interest in the right of first refusal in the Jaspe block, in the Campos Basin. Furthermore, the company has demonstrated its commitment to purchasing renewable generation assets, including solar and wind plants.

Energy sector news

The piped gas distributor in Rio Grande do Sul will share part of the capacity contracted in the gasbol with Petrobras. Furthermore, the BNDES bank is reducing interest rates to modernize the Brazilian naval fleet, aiming to produce more sustainable vessels.

Territorial disputes and environmental issues

President Lula plans to travel to Guyana as a 'message' to Venezuela about the dispute over Guyanese territory. Furthermore, the IEA reports a structural decline in global emissions from electricity generation.

Investments and events in the energy sector

GM International announced investments of R$7 billion in Brazil until 2028. In addition, the epbr agency will provide special coverage of the Brazil Offshore Wind Summit, an event about offshore wind energy.

TCU decisions and new ventures

The TCU decided to judge the renewals of concessions individually electricity distribution, while the photovoltaic solar plant Sol de Jaíba, in Minas Gerais, began operating. Weg will also benefit from the government's new industrial policy. The TRT ordered Itaipu to pay arrears to Brazilian workers and the government plans to announce a fund to help airlines.
