Maintenance campaigns in Petrobras' Campos Basin fields will continue between 2022 and 2023 and the company intends to make a total investment of US$ 220 million in UMS, floating hotels with workshops for services.

The company Petrobras has a plan of scheduled stoppages for the maintenance of its fields located in the Campos Basin which will start in 2022 and continue until 2023 to guarantee the necessary security for the exploration of these areas. And, for that, the company will make a total investment of US$ 220 million in Maintenance and Safety Units (UMS), floating hotels that guarantee easier and more efficient maintenance services.

Maintenance stoppage campaign for Petrobras fields in the Campos Basin will include an investment of US$ 220 million in UMS

Petrobras is continuing its plan of scheduled shutdowns to carry out maintenance services in the Campos Basin fields in 2022, with a total of 5 campaigns, which will extend until the year 2023.

And, to ensure more safety and efficiency in the maintenance plan, the company will invest a total of US$ 220 million in UMS, floating spaces that have workshops used for services focused on integrity, preservation, legal compliance and security.

So far, Petrobras has completed its stoppage campaign for maintenance services on platform P-51, located in the Campos Basin. It is now turning its efforts and investment to maintenance activities and scheduled stoppages, which are underway on the P-53 and P-43 oil and gas platforms, scheduled for completion this month.

Still in 2022, the company intends to start the maintenance campaign also on the P-48 and P-40 platforms. Thus, the UMS will be essential to accommodate the workers and all the equipment needed to carry out maintenance services in the oil and gas exploration areas.

In addition to the investment in the acquisition and chartering of UMS for the campaigns, Petrobras' Campos Basin Exploration and Production Unit (UN-BC) will use, as of August 2022, a small accommodation vessel for works of smaller scope, thus ensuring even more efficiency in the services.

Investment in UMS will be essential to ensure efficiency in maintenance services in the Campos Basin, says the state-owned company

The investment of US$ 220 million by Petrobras in UMS in the maintenance campaign for the fields in the Campos Basin will be essential for greater efficiency in services, since each unit on this platform is able to accommodate around 500 workers who work in the campaigns or scheduled shutdowns of offshore units in operation.

In addition, the floating hotels are connected to the platforms passing through the services by means of a bridge, thus ensuring easier movement for workers.

โ€œIn these campaigns, suppliers and partners work together with the company from planning, supplying materials to delivering each critical service. In addition to structuring the planning, the management team takes care of its execution, monitoring and control and relies on the work of internal support managers and professionals on board the maritime units. The cycle of a major maintenance and scheduled shutdown project takes, on average, two years, from the appointment of the project team, initiation, planning to implementation and closureโ€, detailed the company regarding the project in a recent statement.

Petrobras is now returning its main investment to the ongoing stoppage at oil and gas platforms P-53 and P-43 and is continuing its maintenance plan until completion, which should take place during the year 2023, with services on the five platforms.
