PetroRio hires Ocyan's Norbe VI rig for the development of Campo de Frade and Wahoo

It's been a great week for Ocyan, the company won yet another drillship charter contract, this time with PetroRio for the Frade and Wahoo fields

After winning a charter contract for its drillship, Norbe IX, with Petrobras, Ocyan achieves another achievement. The novelty of the time is the contracting of the Norbe VI rig by PetroRio. The vessel will be used in the Wahoo development campaign and in the Frade revitalization campaign, which are located in the Campos Basin.

The contract with PetroRio will come into effect in March of next year and will make it possible to drill three wells in Frade, two injectors and one producer, and four producer wells in Wahoo.

The Norbe VI agreement will have an initial term of 500 days and may be extended for an additional 350 days in 70-day increments. The drillship, Norbe VI, by Ocyan was built in 2010 and is a semi-submersible drilling platform, with dynamic positioning and capacity to drill wells of up to 7,5 meters and operate in water depths of up to 2,4 meters .

PetroRio acquires more stake in the Wahoo Field

In May, PetroRio informed the market that it signed a contract with Total E&P do Brasil to buy 28,6% of the Wahoo field, in Block BMC-30. If added to the Wahoo portion acquired, Petrorio's stake in the field will be 64,3%.

According to the document, the company intends to generate a second production cluster through the interconnection of Wahoo to Grade, continuing the operational optimization plan of its assets. As informed by the company, the start of operations at Wahoo is scheduled for 2024.

Ocyan's recent contracts

Also this week, in addition to the Norbe VI charter contract, Ocyan also signed a contract with Petrobras for the charter of its drillship, Norbe IX.

The Petrobras agreement will last for three years from the start of operation of the unit, which is scheduled for the beginning of 2022. The Ocyan vessel is a drilling platform that can operate in water depths of up to 3.048 meters and drill wells up to 12.195 meters.

In August 2020, the Norbe IX reached the 6-year mark without any type of accident and the vessel is currently finalizing another contract with Petrobras, which lasted about ten years.
