Macaé port Justice EBTE RJ Port Terminal Economy

With the deliberation of the Federal Regional Court of the 2nd Region on the afternoon of last Wednesday, Macaé can finally proceed with the construction of the Port Terminal of the city, the works are foreseen for 8 years of activities

Macaé won the legal battle that was delaying the construction and implementation of Tepor (Port Terminal) last Wednesday (28). After broadcast by the mainstream media, the CPG confirmed the veracity of the information, so it is important to emphasize that this is not speculation, but a concrete and accomplished fact by EBTE Engenharia itself, the company responsible for the project's engineering.

At the time, an environmental organization from “São Paulo” filed a lawsuit to prevent the installation of the Port in Macaé.

After all the public hearings and environmental deliberations that would make it possible to install the project in the city between the second and third half of 2018, a non-governmental organization called love Brazil, obtained a favorable opinion for the suspension of the Tepor construction license.

According to estimates by figures and public entities in the municipality of Macaé, around 10 jobs will be generated at the peak of the undertaking. Along with the port, other works are on the way: the transport plant that will connect the port to BR 101 and the thermoelectric plants that will be built in the CLIMA industrial complex, using gas from Cabiúnas.

Intervention by the Governor of Rio Wilson Witzel to speed up the Tepor process

On January 4, 2019, Wilson Witzel met with his government team and secretaries to address the issue of employability and the economy of the state of RJ, all of whom were unanimous in giving more agility and directing efforts to this project in Macaé. See below some links where Witzel expresses economic interest in the city:

Official Government Announcement

Note from EBTE Engenharia on the deliberation of the project

“TEPOR announces that a decision has been handed down guaranteeing the implementation of the Macaé Port Terminal. The order was issued today in the Request for Suspension of the Effects of the Judgment made by the State of Rio de Janeiro before the Federal Regional Court of the 2nd Region.

In granting the measure, the President of TRF-2, Justice Reis Friede, took into account legal, technical and economic issues, having recognized the potential harm to public order resulting from the stoppage of TEPOR's environmental licensing. The decision highlights, therefore, the collective interest in the project, due to all the benefits that will reverberate in society, in the State and in the country as a whole. In this way, both the environmental licensing and the implementation of TEPOR are duly guaranteed by the judicial measure”.
